RCA TV flickering problem

The controller board for the screen is going bad. check shopjimmy.com for replacement parts. It's not a difficult job to do. Once the back of the TV is removed, you'll see it near the center of the screen.

are they horizontal or diagonal? if they are diagonal it could be you're brightness is turned up too high. try turning it down.

Cold solder joints on the flyback transformer circuit board - probably because RCA used feed-thru steel rivets on their boards. Re-solder the connections using a good solder flux for clean solder joints and this will fix prob. The joints with the dull, pitted finish are the problem joints.

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Absolutely right about the transistor and also check any adjacent resistors to the transformer and to the line output transistor. Good luck.

hi there, your set has a capacitor problem, most of it are on the horizontal section and video section., usually 100 microfarad electrolytic capacitor with a high voltage is damage. try to test some parts. ty

Too late now but I hope you had it serviced while it was still on parts warranty. With a couple of exceptions, service on those is by major pcb replacement.

Your set might have a high voltage leak and that is the noise you hear when is showing the screen problem or even maybe an arking too ,either one is related to the high voltage and it can be dangerous,if you are familiar with tv service you can try to see where is arking and replace the part with an exact replacement but if the set has a leak you will not see it and is not safe to be close to it,if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
