Groaning washing machine (by 3 users)

I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner III that is not so quiet any more. It kind of groans at me - a sound that starts out low and grows for a second, then stops and starts again, a pretty regular pattern. It stops sometimes - it doesn't do it constantly throghout the wash, but for most of the time it does. Any ideas what it could be?

I finally hired someone to come look at it. The top water arm was clogged with gunk and very little water was getting out. He declogged it, and it sounds much better.

Loud grinding noise. I believe it could be the motor.

You may have something in the food shredder thats causing the noise.If you remove the bottom panel and look at the right side about half way in you'll find the pump.You can remove it by hand because it twists off for quick access.MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF FIRST.
