Question about Bissell 7920 ProHeat Pro-Tech Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum

Broken handle release

The foot-operated handle release on my Bissell 7920 has broken.  I am wondering whether it will cost-effective to have this repaired; it looks like it will be a major disassembly to get to this part, plus the nearest Bissell repair facility is 20 miles away, so that means two round-trips plus probably waiting for the repair shop to order parts.  So I am wondering if I should just buy a new one instead of investing in the repair of a five-year old machine.  Does anyone have experience with having the handle-release assembly repaired?

Most times they don't break, it is the 2 screw holes at the back that back and the top will raise up from the base. If this is the case, remove the 2 screws and install longer ones with a flat washer on them to fashen down the top. But first the top will have to be removed to put the handle release in the right spot. You would probably look at around $60 to repair, unless the top needs replaecment, then it would be more parts.

When the handle release is broken, it's broken. It has nothing to do with the screws. I know, because mine is also broken, but we can't get the thing out. How do we get it out. It's only a $9.00 part.

The handle release pedal wasn't allowing the handle to lower. I took off the pedal and saw the spring load part was broken. What is this part and how to replace it? Bissell 3760-3 handle release

Order Slider Release (7.93, vacpartswarehouse) Pull off 'tank.' Remove 3 Screws for Foot Detent Lever. Pull off. Remove old slider release and spring (verify it's broke.) Replace with new. I just did this today after a year of dealing with it.

There does not seem to be a handle release button on my bissell shampooer and I can't get the handle to release. Model 08239 C 082390

Seems like the on/off switch is at the bottom of the handle on one side, and the handle release is on the other side. Both are foot switches; that is to say that they're operated with your foot.

I had this problem once before. The only thing I did was loosen the back 2 screws, take the release latch and just play with it until it catches, rea simple.

For the handle release, part number is Detent Lever 2030052 Try bissell.com, or call a local repair shop, if they repair Bissell's, then they may have this part in stock. You shouldn't have to take it aprt, there 2 tabs on the release that fit into slots on the base, there move the slots so as to release the tabs.

There is no release, the part is a plastic handle release lever, you can find those at www.hesco.com, the cost is approximately 2.29 each, I have replaced more than 20 of these on the commercial vacuums for my cleaning crew, the part is easily broken and easily replaced. I always have 6 or more on hand.
Turn the vacuum over, remove the bottom plate, with a flat head screw driver punch out the old part. turn the vacuum upright again after the broken part is removed. With the body laying back on a hard surface, carefully push in the new part. Unfortunately, these are plastic, too bad they cannot design a more sturdy part for this.

High pitched screeching/broken handle release

For the handle problem, detent lever part #2030052 and costs $4 to $5. A bearing in the motor is what is making it sound bad, part #2032211 and will cost around $60. You could try bissell.com or call them. They can at least let you know who has Bissell parts near you.
