i think you might need a modem as your laptop might not have enough MB to connect to xbox live

you need to have a internet service and must have a gold subscription in order for you to play match making game

just hook up your xbox by the etheirnet cable and your computers motem and go on xboxlive.com click create newaccount you must have a microsoftlive account

if u hooked up the xbox 360 cord to the internet box then the internet might not be working

Did you get a router, the dsl modem it self wont do much good, you need a router so it can assign your xbox an IP address. You need to have a router hooked up to the DSL modem, and the xbox hooked up to the router.

its a glitch... try making a new gamer tag with the exact same name as your old one that should work
