Freezing up when truning on

Basic steps to follow:1. Replace your IDE/SATA cable (cable that connects to motherboard to local (system drive).
2. Check if there's a dirt build-up on RAM pins (clean it via pencil eraser then cotton with 70% alcohol or dirt/rust cleaning solution.
3. Same process on step #2 as for your grahics card if there's any.
4. Graphics card cooling system maybe overheating, try touching it, if it is, replace the cooling fan if you can(also the thermal paste)
5. Try your built-in (on-board graphics card alone, by removing the inserted video card. If your PC worked normally then the problem is on the inserted Vcard. If the prob still exist then the defect is on the built-in graphics processing unit of the board that needs a major repair by reballing the onboard video chip.

Hope this solve your problem;-)

P5PE-VM with Win7 has no display on PCI video cards-EVGA 2600 or EVGA gt 220. Both cards ran fine with Win XP. What do I need to do?

Hello here is the mainboards homepage:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5PEVM/#download

Are you running 32 or 64 bit system ???

Make sure the video driver supports windows 7, 32 or 64 bit.

The video card can sure run fine on windows xp but not in windows 7 as it is a totaly different system.

The mainboard has a 1 x AGP 8X slot.

So now you maybe has to find a video card that supports windows 7

Try also to download a manual.

Good luck

I have installed windows 7 on p5vd-mx and it is not working fine what is the solution

This board may not support Windows 7 unless you install a video board with 128 MB or more of graphics memory. The onboard video appears to be only 64 MB. The main memory should be at 4GB even though Windows 7 will operate at a minimum of 1 GB(very slowly). I would first run the Microsoft Windows 7 Advisory software to see any compatibility issues. If it was my decision, I would get a new ASUS motherboard certified for Windows 7 with DDR3 memory, a 1GB graphics card, and a 1TB Hard Drive. Upgrading to Windows 7 requires a computer upgrade in most cases.

Video card or driver doesn't support the required fixed-function texture blend operations. DirectX 7 rendering path will not be available. Video card or driver doesn't support direction lights in...

Hello, the problem seem to be related to the video card you're currently using, See if you have an integrated video card: a hint to find out is to see behind your computer if the monitor connection is on a side of the back panel is probable you have an incompatible integrated video system, you can solve this problem by buying and installing a compatible video card as any Nvidia or ATI card, Call an IT professional and ask for some advice on what card you should buy and install to make these problems disappear, also ask him/her to install it for you.

Have a nice day, and If you have any other questions you can come back and reply.

PD: If you still want to buy and install it yourself ask me again and I'll help you.

I have an old Princeton VL 173 that I had been using with an old computer running Windows XP Pro. It works fine. Got a computer with an Asus MB and a Intel Core 2 Quad running Windows 7 Home Premium...

It sounds like a driver/software issue. When you ran the Princeton VL173 on XP you probably had all the correct software for your video card and the correct drivers to support your video output. When you changes OS to Windows 7, the XP drivers are no longer in place. My best guess is that you need to find and install the correct drivers for your system video and for your video card that are Windows 7 compatible. The old XP drivers will not work in Windows 7.

I am running XP with a Princeton VL173. It works great. I identified the correct video drivers for my system and installed them. My video card is nVidia 8800GT. I downloaded and installed the latest software from nVidia and installed it. It runs like a champ.

Several months ago my display died. It was just blank -- black. I tried using a power supply (AC adapter) from an old HP printer that died, and it worked! The plugs were identical, and the power output profiles were very nearly identical. It has been rinnung great for many months now.

I hope this helps.
