LG LCD TV Standby Light Flashing Red Continuously

I have an LG LCD TV (model number 26LXD). Now when the unit is off (or standby) the led on the front of the tv is a steady red. On power up it flashes green and then stays green. I just came home from a short vacation to find the led flashing red (non stop) and I cannot power up the unit. I tried unplugging it and let it set for a few minutes, nothing. I tried a different plug, wall socket to no avail. Now there was a fan running constantly in the unit even after power down (had been doing that for some 8 months) now that fan is not running. Anyway, could it be that, that fan burned out and has caused the unit to not power up? Or is it something else? and what does the flashing red light mean? Thanks for any and all help.

That's what it is doing now. I opened up the unit, pulled the fan and it is working properly. Now I have plugged it back in, the led would flash once, the green led would come on, there is some clicking noise and then the red led is back, and repeating the same process. Will give what you said a try and see if it resets itself or not.

This is hardly a permanent solution, but I have a similar issue with my 42LG55. When the red light flashes on, I'm able to power up the unit using the power button when the red light flashes on, but any other time it doesn't power on.

Furthermore, if you're trying to use the remote, the power button doesn't seem to work, but mashing the Input button on the remote will power it on -- again, only when the light flashes on.

I have had this same problem twice in the past 3 months. So far both times I've been able to get it back after a week or two. I'm not sure what works, but unplugging and detaching the antenna and cable and waiting a few days seems to be the key. In both instances, I unplugged it for a few days then plugged it in for a few days and repeated the processes until I eventually got the steady red led. Both times prior to the red led the led would flash red then green and make a clickiing noise for several hours before I was able to get it working again.

Tv is stuck on standby. The standby light (red) is steady and when I press the STANDBY button, nothing happens. no response or flashing light.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Have a LG 55ls5700 tv that doesn't turn on but the red standby comes on and when i press the power button it starts to blink

Does the screen quickly blink on and then off? Does the standby light slowly blink twice and then go out?If these are the symptoms then it is probably a bad led backlight strip. This was the fault with my lg 47ln540v led lcd tv.I have written this up in a previous post more comprehensively.Hope this helps..

Lg LCD TV power up issue

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.
Normally continious flashes of standby LED indicates a main board failure. Anyway, count the number of blinks as stated above, and make sure about the fault. Contact any service technician.

While you checked the condensers, did you look for faulty connections? places where the solder has a little crack?
And did you check visually, or did you check electronically? In a power supply lots of things can go wrong. More than alone a capacitor with a rounded head.

How long have you had your LG TV? LG had a problem with a chip on the main board in the fall of 2012. Most units have failed by now, but if you only watch your TV occasionally, this could be the problem. The symptom is this: Plug TV in, red LED on front lights up. Try to turn it on, red LED goes out and stays out (should flash and turn blue). Hope this helps. BTW, if it is the chip, and you're handy with a soldering iron, you can buy a new chip online for less than 20 bucks and install it yourself. A main board (with the fixed chip) is about $150.

LG 17LX1R flashing red LED - TV won't power up

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player.

Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours.

If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.
