Hi, whenever i try to scan something, after i pressed scan and selected where i wanted the scan to go to, the printer reads "starting scan..." and my on button blinks, but the paper never goes through and it never scans. i troubleshooted this in the microsoft guide and all it came up with was that i was unplugged somewhere, which i checked and all my hardware is fine. can you help? thanks.

When you press the "scan" button on the lexmark, the scanner is trying to connect to a specific software program that in this case you may not have installed.
You will want to try to test the scanner driver directly.
For windows XP and Vista, try the following.
1. Open your start menu
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select "scanners and cameras"
NOTE: for windows Vista, make sure you are in "classic view" to see scanners and cameras.
4. Check whether there is the lexmark listed in this window.
For windows 7, you will need to do something a little different.
1. Open your start menu
2. go to All programs
3. Open "windows Fax and scan"
4. Click on "new scan".
5. Check whether there is the lexmark listed in this window.
If there is no lexmark, you need to check the lexmark website for drivers. If the lexmark is there, try double clicking the icon to run the scan wizard.
After loading the auto feeder, Scan Menu asks me to select computer. I
press OK. The banner reads (my name)+ macbook pro. I press OK. Screen
reads Tiff To Preview and then Press START SCAN to begin. I press OK.
Screen reads date and time and Original loaded. I press START SCAN.
Screen reads Starting Scan...., but reverts to Original loaded. I have
also tried scanning using the computer (MAC). At times it will run one
page of four and then a screen pops up reading..Unknown Error. The hp
will print and is showing connected. Thanks
I had the same problem and being helped by HP operator.
first take the USB cable out of your computer, then put it off and then on again...it starts to print the test page again...then after the printer stops printing, put the just printed testpage face down on the scanner(glas) and press scan manually...after the scanning(you wait till that is finnished) and then put the printer off and on again....then connect the USB cable to the computer and that will stop the printer from printing the testpage every time you startup your printer....
