Power problem with car cd player_JVC KD-SH77R

Hi, having trouble getting player to boot up. power in is all checking out, i.e."red'_fine,"yellow"_fine,"black"_grounded. "Power/source" is lit up on stand-by, but when I press itfor power, the unit won't kick in. I've pressed "reset", it lights up ok then gos off in about 5 seconds( I don't know if that is normal).Any suggestion? Mark.

Try hooking your cd player directly to the battery and see if it will turn on that way. May not have a good ground source. You have yellow running to your cigarette lighter and your red running to fuse box or power lead to battery source?

Swapped red and yellow wires on my JVC KD-R200, then swapped them back. Now it only powers on when I push the Eject button. Otherwise, nothing

Swapping the red and yellow wires cannot possibly have any affect on the radio. Both wires need to see 12 volts for proper operation. If they are reversed, it would only simply fail to save the memory settings. You have other issues. You have probably lost power on the red wire.

Jvc kd-s590, installing in other car and only the att (red) light comes on no display or sound. tried resetting, fuse is good. that's it.

sounds like only the constant(yellow) wire has power. you need to make sure that the switched wire(red) has power as well. good way to trouble shoot, is to hook the red to the yellow to see if it powers up then, if so you know the radio is ok, you just need to find a better power source for the red wire. hope this helps.

JVC KD-G200 cd player

I would suggest checking the accessory (red wire), the yellow is a constant feed from the battery, which will allow the clock to be displayed no matter what. The accessory wire is what is used to turn on the cd player. You may need to restrip the red wire and check the lead going to the red wire with a test light to make sure it is getting a voltage light.

To stop the memory loss you need to swap the red and yellow wires around. (battery power and ignition power).

To stop the date loss, you need to cut the electrical ariel/remote blue wire.

Hi. your radio has 2 power wires. A red one and a yellow one (with most decks) It sounds like your radio is getting only constant power but no "key on" power. Check your radio with the key on you should have power on both the red and yellow wires. If you are missing power on one of the wires theres your problem. If you have power on both wires then there is something internally wrong with your radio...
