I don't know the particulars for your model of set but you can try looking in to the user menus and see if there is a setting for fixed or varible volume level.

If you have no sound, check for the mute mode. Also check that the set is not in SAP.

Philips 42pfl7762D-lcd blue screen, remote control

Hi! I have the probably same problem (since today) - all I know is that it is because the TV is set to digital instead of analogue, and it won't allow me to put it back into analogue mode - when I try that, i get the cross you mentioned. The strange thing is, that there are no menus visible at all. But the volume and screen output format buttons are workijng and show on the TV. Otherwise the screen is blue. Any solutions?

Philips 32 inch lcd remote will not work

The TV is in some kind of factory modus, you have to simultaniously hold the VOLUME down (-) and PROGRAM down (-) buttons on side of the TV for 3 seconds.

Repair the GoGear (This will permanently delete all files form device):
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

My computer wont detect my player

Refer to the FAQ on this issue on the Philips website.

When that fails:
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

'F' displaying on screen and remote not responding.

Excavated with Google from Philips website: " When a letter F appears on the right hand corner of the screen it means the television is in factory mode. To exit from factory mode, press the 'VOLUME -' and ?CHANNEL -? buttons on the TV set simultaneous for 5 seconds. " Hope this helps Michael Junge
