If its built in to your laptop some have an on/off button check this if its on then try reinstalling the driver. if this does not work you will need to get a new one they come in all sort of external ways

  • Make sure drivers are installed.
  • Ensure USB ports are enabled in BIOS.
  • Try a different USB plug.
I had an older version of this adapter. One day it just stopped working all together and nothing I did got it to work, on any computer. If the above steps don't resolve your problem, the adapter may have just stopped working all together.

Hi, My Wireless adapter -Belkin 802.11b is stopped working all of a sudden. There used to be a green light on the adapter when it is plugged in to my laptop, now there is no light. My Dell Latitude...

First check whether the adapter is working or not?
In the device manager you are able to detect the adapter, that is a good sign.
When you go to the adapters properties, does it say working properly,
If it is , then you just need to connect to the wireless network and the light will lit up

Wireless adapter has suddenly stopped working.

First unplug your adapter and boot your computer. It wouldn;t hurt to reboot it once as well. This should clear out any settings. When it has fully booted up only then insert the adapter into a different usb port. If it recognizes it and works it can indicate a usb problem.

If it finds it but doesn't connect a adapter problem. You can uninstall it and reinstall the drivers and it might work. If not replace. If it does nothing then its died on you and your adapter needs to be replaced.

Most adapters and home network units (wifi routers etc) only last for 1-2 years before they act up or die on you. Very annoying and can be expensive. I have a stack of wifi routers where the wifi isn;t reliable but the rest works. And a drawer full of various wifi adapter that are detected but not connected and a few just plain dead ones. All of them seem to fail at about the same time after purchase.

I have had a D-link wireless adaptor that has worked for years. I would say the device was faulty.

If pc is xp, go to control panel(on classic view), click SYSTEM icon, click HARDWARE(tab on top), click DEVICE MANAGER. Double click NETWORK ADAPTERS. The Linksys Wireless Adapter should be there. If not, unplug and replug the wireless adapter then start again from the beginning of this solution. If the Linksys Wireless Adapter shows under NETWORK ADAPTERS, right click it and click properties. If you see THE DEVICE IS WORKING PROPERLY, then the problem might be your wireless router.

I will suggest 2 solutions

first you may uninstall and reinstall the driver of the Wireless Adapter. This has reasonable chance to fix the issue

Second solution is a bit more technical but you can try by following the instructions as has been explained; here is the link for the solution;
