I had the same problem with an SPX08E. It turned out that enabling the auto light sensor was the cause!
The way I fixed it was to remove all memory cards and attach the frame via USB to a PC. Then use windows explorer to delete all folders and files on the frame other than the smartpix installer MSI. Then remove the USB and power cycle the frame. It will come up at the main menu and you then have about 15 secs to navigate to the settings page, scroll down to the reset settings tab and reset all settings to defaults. You can then transfer any pictures you want back to internal memory.
Do not turn on the light sensor or you will have to do it all over again!

The frame has a light sensor. If it is too dark, the frame turns off the screen. You can change the sensor setting to avoid this problem. Check out the FAQ as following http://smartpartsproducts.com/content/support/faq/news.php?newsid=16

The power adapters for the SP15MW's burn out very quickly so every thoug you have power in the outlet, it is not getting to the frame. Take the adapter to Radio Shack to have them test the voltage. If it's dead, you need to replace it and then the frame will work.

To remove a picture, connect the frame to your PC via USB. you should see the frame appear as a drive, in my case,
36972 (E:)
open the drive as Explore, you can now see the pictures, and delete what you no longer want.
you can download the software from

I had the same problem. I "thought" I was deleting them via my computer (using the delete function in Windows Explorer). However, that doesn't really delete the files.
I had to manually delete 82 photos (one by one) using the klunky menu buttons on the frame. I hope it works. Note that the frame cannot be connected to your computer when you're doing this.
Good luck!
