Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-42WE655 42" Rear Projection HDTV

Sony 42" - green scribbles on screen

My 42" WEGA has what appear to be green scribbles displayed on the upper right side of the screen. They emanate from a diagonal line starting at the top and in the middle of the screen.

I replaced the bulb and it did not correct the problem. Can you offer any advice on how to fix this?

The green screen suggests a problem or bad Optical engine. Most Sony sets have a self check for error codes---set off: with remote: Display, 5, vol down, power(hit the power button)

On your remote in the upper half of the right side of the remote is a button for display, try pressing this and see if the display doesn't go away.

The PDP ( plasma display panel) is defect. You can look for badly soldered SMD resistors on the COF panels wich are located at the bottom of the screen.
Beware, the flatcables wich the resistors are located on are verry fragile!

3LCD Projection TV 2.5 years old displaying blue hue/blobs

I would first try a new lamp. If the reflector portion of the lamp has any defects, it could show up this way as the light would not be uniform. The next possibility is a defective light engine. The engine portion if not field repairable and would need to be replaced. Try the lamp first and let us know what happens.

Sony KDF-42WE655 (LCD 42 inch)

I have the exact same problem with my 42" LCD HDTV. When I called Sony "customer support" they told me NOTHING. However, I began researching this issue and found out that Sony knows all about this problem. It's a part called the "Optical Block" and THEY are supposed to reimburse you for the repair! The claim form is on the Sony Website. Here's the link: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=KF42WE610&LOC=3 Look inside the yellow box on the right and click on: Additional service coverage information for your TV (scribble / line pattern on screen) Hope this helps you!!
