Power supply doesn`t work

The power supply doesn`t seem to work unless I wiggle the wire about. I have bought 2 new power supplies and its exactly the same. I have had a look at the power connector inside the computer and it looks fine. Can you give me any ideas as to what the problem may be. Thank you for your help.
Kind regards.

Mxl 40000: When you plug it in it works for a split second and then volumn drops to almost zero.

Sounds like a weak or missing Phantom Power Supply. This power is supplied by the source "mixing console" and can be turned off on many models of consoles. If you have a smaller and lower end mixer it is possible it does not provide the needed Phantom Power. Also if the mic cable is incorrectly wired the Phantom Power is not being properly supplied to the mic. This also could damage the mic by putting the voltage on the wrong pin connections. Pin 1 is ground, pins 2 and 3 are audio high and low. Sorry I do know the exact connection for 2 and 3. The user/owners manual may supply the correct wiring information. A store bought cable of good quality should already be wired correctly.

Hello my laptop will not tun on when i slide thepower switch. HELP ME PLASE. PLEASE Thank you VERY MUCH

Check for voltage at the tip of the power connector.
If there's power there, try removing the battery and powering it up.
If that doesn't work, you can try a new power supply, but get a written guarantee that if the unit doesn't work, that you can return it.
If a new power supply doesn't fix the issue, even with a new power supply, then chances are unless you are an electronics technician/technologist, you aren't going to be able to repair the unit yourself.
Most places will want to replace your motherboard - don't use these shops.
Find a place like www.SuperTech-IT.com that does component level repairs and can evaluate and repair the motherboard rather than replacing it.

My desktop froze on the screen saver, picture slide, could not be turned off in any other way but by pressing the off button. Then , it doesn't turn on. Once, on the advise of a friend, I was able to...

Power supplies go bad over time, but it's also possible some card fell out of place inside there. Open it up, use the brush attachment on the vacuum to dust it out as necessary, make sure the cards, memory and heatsinks are seated securely, and try again. It's easy to buy a new power supply at NewEgg or locally; you want around 300-450W unless you bought dual videocards (then up to 650W.)

I just bought a new pc. It worked in the store. I also purchased a graphics card and power supply upgrade. I switched out the components exactly as they were. I now have no power. what might be cuasing...

either the graphic card is not compatible or the power supply that you changed is not fit for the motherboard....
check this
1 switch on the machine....if u can view / hear the fan on the power unit at the back of the PC running then the power unit is working.
2 do u get any msg or charecter on the screen when you power on the manchine ? if yes then the graphic card is the issue....
3 the cables inside the PC that you connected of the power supply are not properly joined in the MB

well at the last i will ask if the PC was new why did u make an upgrade....u could have bought a better PC with the extended features ??? well that's ur choice...!!!

ok then....
just put back the original power supply and original graphic card to c if it works now....
then let me know pls...
regards

Power will not come on. I bought a new power cord

The power supply may be at fault. You can try testing the supply with a volt meter. However, this may be inaccurate because there is no load on the power supply.

You can try a friend's power supply or buy a universal power supply (usually cheaper than an OEM one).

You may also have a problem with the DC Jack. This is a common problem too. Try moving the tip of the power cord in the computer. Does it feel firm. Do the power lights come on and off. Unfortunately, DC Jack problem will require a professional.

HP zd8000 laptop power supply

I found the solution - and implemented it, it works. The blue (ID) line needs to show 7.5v. The simple way to acheive this is to simply put a 47k resistor from the +19.5v line to the ID line. Apparently there is a pull down at the computer end that means it ends up at 7.5v.

I cut the cable about 6" from the old HP power supply. I then soldered a female power socket onto the loose cable and soldered the 47k resistor between the ID line and the +19.5 line. I then plugged this onto my two pin power supply and the plugged it into my computer. It works very nicely.

Not wishing to junk the HP power supply unecessarily - it was still producing the 19.5v - I then soldered a power plug onto that ignoring the ID line. That now works as well. It seems that the circuitry that provided the 7.5v ID voltage in the HP power supply became flakey. I could have just opened up the power supply (I have already done that) and disconnected the blue line from the circuit board and just tied it to the +ve line via the 47k resistor and then wrapped it with the usual insulating tape.

Does the power supply you purchased from LCD Payless still working?

I tried to purchase one for the $142.00 and it was not in stock. I think contaced the person someone recommended on this website. This was his answer:

It seems a lot of people are having problems with the Protron power supply. I’ve been able to repair all the ones I’ve seen so I’m confident I can fix them. I don’t sell the replacement power supply but I’ve heard about the ones on EBay. They seem to be a mishmash of two power supplies (12vdc and 24vdc) wired together with the proper connector. This should work but it just doesn’t sound very clean looking to me and they end up costing $150.

I’ve been charging between $50 and $100 to repair these power supplies. My recommendation would be to send me the power supply I’ll check it out and unless it’s unusually damaged it will cost $50 plus shipping to repair. If I can’t repair it I’ll return ship it and only charge for shipping.

I will guarantee the repair for 1 month. I don’t know what’s causing the power supplies to fail so I can’t guarantee it any longer than that. My feeling about the reason the Protron power supply stops working is two part; could be overheating due to lack of proper ventilation to the power supply; or the TVs power requirement is overdriving the power supply.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I repair these at my work, so here’s the shipping address:

150 W ATX Power Supply HP-150SS

All you have to do is connect the green wire (normally thinner than the rest of the cables) to any black wire. This can be done easily with a short piece of wire. If the power supply doesn?t immediately turn on (within 2 seconds) remove the wire, you may have connected it to the wrong wires, although most power supplies won?t allow a short to damage the unit. Once on, the power supply isn?t loaded so the voltages won?t be as stable as if they were used in a full PC, however it?ll be sufficient for most uses. It?s not a good idea to leave a power supply on in this fashion for a long period of time too."
