Question about Mitsubishi VS-45609 TV

1 Answer

I'll call it "picture zooms in and out"

It's hard to describe but when a brighter image is displayed the tv appears to zoom in slightly, causing some of the edges of the image to be lost. It returns to normal size during darker scenes. At its worst it can cut the station logo in half. Other than that the picture is still great. Any ideas?

My Trinitron's mostly fine, though it's a few years old, but it has a strange display issue. It's almost as though the picture is "zoomed in" about 8%, cutting off about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of...

This problems u are having it is not the causes by the tv,because ur tv it is a analoge CRT tv,don't have this functions zooming in or out or the problems just causes only 8% cutting off edges of the tv pictures only.If the problem it is happening to ur analoge tv it will have no vertical hold at all.The devices u are connected to the tv and using have zoomming in or out buttons or ajustment buttons of the sizes of the picture on the screen.Used the devices remotes controls to readjust ur zooming or pictures sizes adjutment.

How do I change it from wide screen to regular? I have a black area above and below the picture.

Hello
You can set the picture size by remote control itself.

You can vide 480i format programmes in three picture sizes. 4:3, 16:9, and ZOOM
You can change the picture size by pressing the PICTURE SIZE button on the remote control.
4:3 Picutre size
To fill the screen, the top and bottom edges are extedted more widely, although the center of the picture remains near the former ratio.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image size is displayed in its originally formatted proportion.
16:9 picure size
This image displays the size of standard 16:9 with black bars at the top and bottom.
If receiving a 4:3 programme, the image is displayed with black bars at the top and bottom and stretched wider.

NOTE: If a fixed bar remains on the screen for a long period of time, the image can become parmanantly engrained in the screen and cause subtle but permanent ghost images. Never leave your TV for long periods of time while it is displaying these images.

Zoom picture size [for 16:9 formats]
The entire picture is uniformly enlarged --it is stretched the same amount both wider and taller (retains its original proportion). The right and left edges of the picture may be hidden.
OK.

It appears that the image on the screen is zoomed in, but I can't figure out how to "undo" that. Thank you!

If the image on screen is zoomed both in vertical and horizontal direction, your TVs power regulator inside it is faulty. [Overvoltage]. If it is zoomed in vertical direction only, that is only the height of the picture is zoomed, you can adjust it with the remote control button directly on going through menu and get in to the function menu. Normally all TV remote has a special button marked as "Zoom" which on pressing it once the picture get zoomed, again another press the picture gets wide and again an another press picture will come to normal mode. You should select normal mode to retify the problem.

My kids were playing with the buttons on the tv, and itseems like the picture is now "stretched" vertically - the tops of heads are cut off, and it seems like some of the picture is missing from the sides....

there should be a zoom, or strech, or even the letterbox option somewhere. What your describing is a enlarged picture that doesn't fir the screen, like if I select zoom on my remote.

The picture has ''zoomed'' out. can't read text on scroll bars. fuz

Please try using the zoom button on a universal remote. The button on the remote may no longer be working. Otherwise the best way is to open the set and test each capacitor and transistor with a multimeter to see which ones if any need to be replaced.

Picture Zooms in and out

check your b+ goin to the flyback, and see if the voltage changes durring picture changes. if this is too high or moves around alot, then you have more then normal then i would check your p/s. either or it could be a weak regulator. Also could be something else, i know that magnavox has a problem with this, and they have you replace 2 sm trasistors on bottom of board in the ABL line, i believe.
I checked the mitz web site and they have nothing listed for this problem. might also want to check caps in p/s and 100uf on signal board while your in it.

Picture bigger than screen

This can be caused not enough high voltage going to the picture tube. If the picture seems to get larger and smaller depending on the brightness of the scene on the screen that is probably what it is. IF that is the problem, there isn't much a normal consumer can do.
