I've seen this happen a few times and most of those times it turned out that that a security light or some other light source was getting into the infrared sensors on front of the device. this usually occurs after just recently rearranging furniture and tv locations. it can also be kind of spooky. this also happens in the daytime when the sun is shining on the unit in question.

You have to change the composite inputs from the cable box to the one marked 1080p in the back of the TV. (The Green Red and Blue cables.)

Will Not Turn On

First you need to do a self test diagnosis and then if it comes up with:
SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB
Do self test by pressing Input/Device and Menu at the same time for 5 sec. the set will show a 2 digit seq. first blinks followed by a short pause then the second.

I have a 60' sony wega r60xbr1 i just had a new light engine installed last night the tv was never turned on afterwards . I turned it on the screen come on shut off imediatly the red led flashes 4 times...

LOOK IF YOURS IS A SONY I had a sony grand wega 60 inch with the same problem as many tv turns on shuts off the red led FLASHED 4 TIMES. it is a heating issue if one of the three fans inside are not turning when the tv is on even on the first few seconds of turning it on the tv will send a fault code of four flashes . Then the tv shuts off so it wont burn its self up or damage the optical block. all with this same problem of 4 flashes take a flashlite and make sure your fans are turning if not that is your 4 flash problem. I hope this helps someone and if it does i have done my job .

Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.
The DLP lamp replacement is fairly straightforward and can be done with minimal tools

The tv wont turn on. i checked the fuses on it and the power connection. i turned it off one night and the next day it wouldnt come on.

It sounds like the tv is not passing its self test at turn on, If you have the owners manual you can use the pattern of the indicater LED's at turn-on to zero in on the problem. It could be one of the fans not working. If tv is not powering on at all, I would check the rear panel safety switch inside the rear cover. It wont let the tv power on if switch isn't fully depressed indicating the rear panel has been removed.

Good luck,
techjoel
