Broken screen on nikon coolpix

Apparently this is a common problem. My daughter's camera is less than a month old, with the same leaf-like splotchy pattern. She was keeping it in a case. I haven't seen a solution yet; does anyone have one to offer?

My daughter has a Coolpix L12 - bought in May 2007 - and has taken very good care of it. She takes multitudes of pics every day. Put camera up one night in perfect working order. The next day when she turned it on, the screen is white with a black leaf-looking "splotch" and I can also see red and green dots within the black areas. The camera would still take pictures, you just couldn't see them on the screen. Then, a couple of week later, the camera has quit working completely. Will not take pictures, will not turn off unless you remove the battery, the lens will not retract. And as usual - while the warranty is still good, it won't cover a broken screen. They assume abuse even though I know that is not the case. The warranty company says the lcd screen is probably broken even though the outer protective screen is not. They have informed me that I will have to repair the screen before they will look at the problem of the camera not working.

i got a nikon coolpix.L18 for my birthday and i haven't had but for less than 2 months and i took it out of my bag one day the screen was broken.

My daughter got a Nikon Coolpix for Christmas,2007. Hers worked fine for 6 months! She has downloaded pictures and placed the camera back in its case. She took the camera out of the case the next day to charge the battery before a hiking trip and the screen is "half white". She has not dropped or abused the camera in any way. Not sure what the cost of repair is for this problem. The camera was not cheap!

Coolpin 3100 - i too have the same problem - a broken screen - is it replaceable - is a spair available?

My Nikon is an L10 and the screen is broken too; i have no idea how. It is black and has leaf-like looking stems coming throughout the screen. Is this fixable? It seems like more than one person is having the exact same problem with their Nikons.

My daughter has had hers for 2 weeks! In her purse and it get's dropped and the screen is broken. Any ideas on how much to fix?

My daughter's Nikon CoolPix screen also broke and I am trying to determine if it can be replaced.

Only a 6" drop and the screen on my Coolpix broke in several places, rendering it virtually useless. I've had it for 1 month.
