yes, but If a take the battery out and try to turn it on it will try to boot and shutdown. I can get it to work if i bend the charger cord. My worries is that I dont think that method of making it work will last long.

  • precado999 Apr 13, 2008

oh it does try to charge the battery but quickly switches to battery power.

  • precado999 Apr 13, 2008

well I have tried it in different locations and the problem is still the same. for example at school, library etc. I have to move the power jack around to be able to make the battery charge. So I think that the problem is the power jack.

  • Ekse Apr 13, 2008

you said you bought a new charger so its odd that it would be the cause but, check the cables, is there a power cable going to the adapter? is it removeable? it might be a loose connection.

  • Ekse Apr 14, 2008

its the power jack or then the cable, or the ac converter or the cable that does into the converter from the wall. Give atlasuk2007 a thanks for trying or innapropriate rateing for ansvering someone elses problem.

Never used one of these but I've heard somethings if the Battery is bad they wont power on ...... Verify it charges while plugged in should be a light to indicate this ....... also may need to be left plugged in for alittle while if battery is completely depleted ..... might even be worth removing the battery and reinserting I had a few laptops in my time that had such problem with a simple fix as just needing to reinsert the batttery due to a bad connection

If not, left-click on,

Takes a few seconds before you see the first page, and additional time to fully download.
Suggestion is that you let the file fully download, before looking through it.

Will a new PC be able to run an old DOS program?

You sound like you are living in the dark ages. Very bad idea with IT.

Anyway, get a USB floppy drive on your new PC. Problem solved.

I cant charge my laptop

Yes! as this is a season time you'll get great deals and its much cheaper to buy a new system and call the call center once you are ready to buy after the discount ask for some kind of upgrade and then ask for another Discount and most probably as I did i bought a $600 system of dell that originally was for $798

Aspire one no statring at all

if new, return it to place of purchase for a replacement. if used, the motherboard or internal problems may be the problem such as a bad motherboard, bad internal connection etc.
it may also be that the battery isn't being charged due to a bad adapter or battery. the battery may not be able to take a charge, or the charger may not actually be charging. if you have a spare charger, try it, and the same for the battery.
a green light on the charger doesn't mean it's actually doing anything. nor does it really indicate the battery is good.

My gateway laptop will not take a charge i have gotten a new charger and it doesn't help

Maybe the battery went... As a rule of thumb, you should not have the battery connected when on AC power, unless for recharging purposes. It reduces lifespan in a galloping fashion.

I Have an Acer Aspire laptop and evertime you plug in the charger it will show no signs it's connected and the laptop is now out of battery so it will not turn on at all. Even when my charger is plugged...

Please Please Please change your charger right away .. I Got 2 Acer laptop last week and both had same probelm ..if there would be any fluctuations in voltage from your adaptor it will fry up your laptop and you will be in big trouble. Please dont do any experiments on your adapter and change it right away. I Got one laptop last week and customer tried so many angles like you did and fried up his laptop's motheboard already.
Hope you will listen to my suggestion. new charger is not very expensive.
Good Luck !!

Gateway MX8711 CHARGER IS OVERHEATING.....NOT CHARGING FULLY NOW CHARGER HOT TO TOUCH...CAN'T LEAVE NOTEBOOK CHARGING TOO LONG

how old is this charger?? might be time for a replacement, also im sure the battery is no longer good either

take the batter out see if the computer stay on and gets hot.

if it does still get hot check if the CPU fan or the fans are spinning, if not, the MOTHERBOARD could be shot.

check the fan make sure they are free moving, no dust.

Faulty Charger

If the unit works with the charger plugged in, but not with the battery, the most likely problem is the battery itself. Replac the battery. While possible, it is rare for the charging system to fail within the laptop. Let us know if the new battery has problems.
