Canon PIXMA MX860 OFFICE AIO-2.5IN LCD 19.4X17.1X8.9IN All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jun 18, 2010

I have a Cannon MX860 all in one machine. I have tried sending a fax multiple times with different baud rates down to 7200. The other machine answers and the two begin negotiation and the speaker goes quiet. It appears to be sending the fax, but then gets an error report with "incomplete transmission". No error number is reported just "ng". I am attempting this through a MagicJack phone connection.

Whenever i send a fax, the machine confirms by viewing 'TRANSMITTING OK' but the addressee receives a blank document

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting.

It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty.

To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly.

It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.

Change baud rate on okifax 5050

The baud rate is automatically set by the machine when it connects to the remote machine. The machines start at the highest speed and drop down until both machines can send/receive without any errors then they send the pages. You can not manually set the speed.

older fax machines used a 9600bps baud rate, meaning a transfer rate of 9600 bits per second. a Bit being an 7th/8th of a byte. The newer machines can transfer at 14400bps, which older machines can not read, as its too fast. thats why they asking the BAUD rate.

For "9400" set it to "9.6" (9.6K = 9600 Baud)

Also note that for this to fix your problems I would expect to find your machine is currently set to 14.4 or higher.
Change it and see how it works for you. If it is no good, you can always change it back to the original setting.
