My pc is asking to reset the time again and again

If you mean that the time/date needs to be reset every time you power up your computer, then it's the CMOS battery on the motherboard which needs replacing.
This small circular battery keeps your PC settings )time/date) 'alive' when it the computer is powered off. A dead battery won't damage your computer in any way .. it just means that you have to reset the time and date every time you switch it on.

The battery is on the motherboard. It's just like a rather large, circular watch battery. To change it (with PC powered off) remove one side of the casing. Look on the motherboard and locate the battery. With a pin or small screwdriver prise out the battery from its housing underneath its retaining metal tag. Put a new battery in. It's as easy as that.

I have the battery. What do i need to change it

I'll take it that your computers clock is not keeping time/date or you get a checksum error.

1. Unplug computer and open it up

2. Locate the battery holder and carefully remove the battery from the metal tab

3. Replace battery quickly

4. close computer and start up

5. Press F10 and reset cmos values to default

6. If nothing has been resolved you have bad hardware or a faulty motherboard.

My date is not getting set in bios

Change the CMOS battery.

If you had taken the time to post the computer manufacturer name, and model number; I would know what motherboard we're dealing with, and what type of CMOS battery it uses.

Generally the battery is a CR2032.
A type of watch battery.
Positive ( + ) side ALWAYS goes UP

Post back in a Comment.

Clock in computer will not maintain time and date

Yes it very probably is the CMOS battery, time is kept counting electric pulses, when the computer is turned on there is power and memory to do this, but when it is turned off it relays on the battery to keep this an some other settings, maybe you're receiving a warning at boot time. Check this guide for replacing such batteries:

How to know dell 370 precision battery

If the battery is changed, that will mean that the BIOS was set back to january 1 1980.
Go into BIOS, set the clock to the correct time.

For DELL 370 precision , here is the BIOS instruction:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ws370/

Replacing the Battery caution.gif CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions located in the Product Information Guide. notice.gif NOTICE: To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of your computer's electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer.
A coin-cell battery maintains computer configuration, date, and time information. The battery can last several years.
The battery may need replacing if you have repeatedly reset the time and date information after turning on the computer or if one of the following messages appear:
Time-of-day not set - please run SETUP program
or
Invalid configuration information -
please run SETUP program
or
Strike the F1 key to continue,
F2 to run the setup utility
To determine whether you need to replace the battery, reenter the time and date in system setup and exit the program to save the information. Turn off your computer and disconnect it from the electrical outlet for a few hours; then reconnect the computer, turn it on, and enter system setup. If the date and time are not correct in system setup, replace the battery.
You can operate your computer without a battery; however, without a battery, the configuration information is erased if the computer is turned off or unplugged from the electrical outlet. In this case, you must enter system setup and reset the configuration options.

Every time I bot up my pc the dte and time is

hi,
Coin-shaped batteries on most motherboards should be CR2032. Make sure it is properly installed and + is up. IF you have a multimeter or you have a friend who has a multimeter, remove the battery and check the voltage. It should read 3.0 volts when fully charged. If it reads 1.8 volts or higher is probably OK. Be very careful installing and removing coin-shaped batteries. Most of the battery holders i have seen for these batteries are quite fragile and easily broken. I ease these batteries into the holder with the aid of "tweaker" (small screw driver).

here is a video, you can see how to remove the battery or bypass bios password.

I have a e system desktop the clock keeps running late

Computers have an internal battery on the motherboard that helpd the board retain certain data when the computer is off. If the battery is low or dead it will cause this problem. The easiest way to replace the battery is to open the side of the computer when it is off and remove the battery from the battery holder on the motherboard. The battery looks just like a watch battery. Replace it with the same kind of battery (available at most drug stores) once you have replaced it turn on your computer and reset your clock.

Evesham quest a240 looses the clock settings when switched off

Needs a new bios battery. Mine lasted 6 months before giving up. However you can leave the laptop plugged into the mains power when computer is switched off and the date/time will be kept. Otherwise change the bios battery or reset the time each time you use it. I phone Evesham and they said that the bios battery is soldered to the chassis on this model and so would need to be returned to the factory for this to be replaced. Since Evesham are now defunct you would need to get a PC repair shop to replace the battery. Is easy to do.

CMOS battery replacement

Your Pc should have an Intel E210882 motherboard in it.
A coin-cell battery (CR2032) powers the real-time clock and CMOS memory. When the computer
is not plugged into a wall socket, the battery has an estimated life of three years. When the
computer is plugged in, the standby current from the power supply extends the life of the battery.
The clock is accurate to ± 13 minutes/year at 25 ºC with 3.3 VSB applied.
When the voltage drops below a certain level, the BIOS Setup program settings stored in CMOS
RAM (for example, the date and time) might not be accurate. Replace the battery with an
equivalent one. Figure 14 shows the location of the battery.
These batteries are very common and can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Etc...
