Question about Printers & Copiers

2 Answers

We have just changed ISP from Demon to BTHomeHUB including a change from the previous modem/router (an SMC wireless ADSL Barricade g) to a British Telecom (BT) wireless modem/router. Maybe it's not relevant but the latter is connected via ethernet to a Del PC and we are able to run our 3 Mac laptops, via WiFi, very efficiently with this set up. Having earlier downloaded the relevant drivers to our Macs (but not to the PC which would not allow the download for some reason) our Lexmark Z1480 wireless printer was working fine with the previous WiFi set up with the Macs (which is all that we require) but the printer is now apparently not communicating with the new BT modem/router (orange flashing WiFi icon on the printer which needs to be continuous green. The Del PC will still not allow the Lexmark download but anyway this was not necessary to have our Macs printing wirelessly on the earlier set up. With thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer Delwin Clifford

You need to use the setup cd and connect the lexmark into the pc to reconfigure the wireless again since it changed.

The printer still has the details of the old wireless station and they need to be changed to the new one.

with HP printers this is done with the setup cd. Its a part of the installation so you might need to uninstall the software from the pc and then reinstall the software to get it to configure the printer again with the new details.

I need to set my Canon Pixma MX430 to a new internet provider. How do I do this?

You need to change the router settings note the model number of the Router or modem and phone your ISP and find out the settings that need to change. The router uses an internal ip range so you do not need to change the internal ip ranges just the settings to talk with the ISP . Your ISP should be able to guide you through the router settings. The Pixma should not be affected by the change of ISP unless the internal range of IP addresses has been changed. the internal range is 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.254 or 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254. you may need to change the email pop server and the smtp server name if stored in the printer for emailing out scanned items. The printer should have a setup CD to set these items

Setup should look like...

Wall > ISP Modem/Router > Wireless router(if any) > Wired/wireless

If using DSL, a DSL Filter MUST be on ALL devices, phone, answering machine, faxes, etc..., everything EXCEPT the DSL Modem/Router.

You may share a DSL Filter.

Wall > DSL Filter > Splitter > Multiple Devices

Here are the recommended steps to connect to a wireless base router 1. Check and remove power from both your router and the DSL ROUTER/CABLE ROUTER MODEM 2. Wait one complete minute until applying power to modem then wait one minute before applying power to wireless router. 3. Ensure you have green lights across both devices, specifically, the recieved and sent lights. These same lights will tend to blink rapidly when there is active data, at times this will still blink, and a DNS error will prevent you from connecting to the internet. If this is the case, call your ISP Internet service provider 4. Check your authentication Security key on your router first, then check all your wireless devices to ensure they are on the same network name, key, and channel with the same type of encryption as the router 5. Start one device at a time and check for connectivity, if your still experiencing a problem, check the settings on all your wireless adapters, device drivers, internet browser settings, firewalls and proceed. 6. still have problems, connect a rj45 cable from the router directly to your computer to at least see if your wireless settings are bad or if the router may be bad. 7. Contact your ISP to determine if your receiving singal 8. Avoid using a splitter or parital power backup for yours routers 9. Still having problems, change your wireless router only after your ISP changes their faulty modem 10.Attempt the same process when setting up your new wireless router and or modem

The wireless router needs to configured with the wireless settings, SSID, encryption etc. Then the wireless card in the Toshiba needs to be configured with the wireless router's SSID, encryption etc.

Adsl modem router password

Just try with putting admin it is default password or you can try to put password as password. If it is work then great otherwise you have to reset the setting .in router there is one small hole just insert any pin inside and press it all the light will flash that means it is reset to factory setting and all the setting which is saved is erase . now access the router with default ip 192.168.1.1 and do the setting according to the internet .

Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.
Have a good day.

The modem & internet lights on router are flashing orange. All other lights are solid blue. The Verizon DSL modem indicates it is working properly. Have re-set once. What do I do now?

Its your network that's causing connection problem!

1. Try to connect to your network after half an hour!

2. If the server is still busy, don't surf during peak hours! (surf @ night)

3. Change your ISP! (last solution)
