Question about Hitachi 51F500 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Black opaque line or bar

I have a black opaque line or bar 1/4 to1/2" wide and 6" long going from left to right and downward at the bottom left corner of the tv. looks like it has dripping marks on the bottom side if you look at it from an angle. my 3 year old may have sprayed it with a water bottle today. but, not sure if this could be caused by moisture. any ideas?

If its is viewable when off then yes its water or oil.between the screens.these screen don't normally come off from the front.
they have to be access from the rear.
could be big job.
only way to tell is to remove the rear cover.

Sounds like a convergance issue. I would have a tech set the convergance for you if you have not done it before, it can be tricky and you could make worse.

Most if not all DVD's are 16 by 9 even in 4.3 mode you are going to have those bars on this TV. Some television have a zoom feature to get rid of that but not this one.

Sounds like you may have some bad filter capacitors in the convergence board. Better take a close look at them before they damage the chips. Good Luck
