Question about Gateway 835GM (835GH) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Downloads from email

When I download a picture that is enclosed in an email, (ie: I see it in the body of the letter) and I choose to right click and "save picture as..." I get the drop down menu with the box of file type choices. It used to have bmp, jpg, gif and ani or animated gif. Now it only allows me one choice and that is bmp. It is so aggrivating. I can't download as jpg and I can't download cute little animated gif files like I used to. I have searched and searched and cannot find a solution. I have checked everything in control panel. and looked under "Tools" in the tool bar. What can I do?? Linda

Very helpful in that is specifically addresses the problem I have. But I have not truely been able to correct the problem even though I went to tools and then to options and did all the suggested changes. However one of the work arounds does allow me to download the picture as a jpg. I have not tested yet if I can download GIF or ani.

Thaks so much for the information. I feel better knowing it is not my PCs problem but a microsoft problem. Perhaps one of these days they will actually fix it. Thanks again. Linda

Microsoft knows of the issue and has a fix or work around, when the cache memory is full the options to save are limited.

OH YOU WANT IT FIXED???? USE LINUX
    (PUPPY PRO IS AWESOME)
Free operating systems are great. Boot from a cd, plug in a flash drive to save settings, don't even need a hard drive.
Linux welcomes people to hack in and fix bugs, Microsoft makes it illegal. I had to terminate a subscription to rhapsody because Media player 11 wants to sync and I am not using anything, so it takes me 5 minutes to cancel the sync just to hear music, now it is so integrated in the MP11 I can't use it either.

How to download in my pc?

1.

When you download a file-such as a program, update, game, video, or document-you transfer it from the Internet to your computer.

2.

When you download files using Download Manager, they're automatically saved in the Downloads folder. This folder is usually located on the drive where Windows is installed (for example, C:\users\your name\downloads). For information about managing your downloads and changing where they are saved, see Using Download Manager in Internet Explorer

If you're saving a file, you can choose to save it to a particular folder. If you don't select a folder yourself, some files are automatically saved to a folder associated with the file type. For example, if you right-click a picture on a web page, and then choose Save Picture As, it will be saved to the Pictures folder.

3.
Open Download Manager

  1. ?id=microsoft.windows.resources.shellexecutetopiciconClick to open Internet Explorer.

  2. Click the Tools button getcontent.aspx?assetid=448ef968-d58a-43a2-b0cc-f396f4024f2c&documentset=en-us&prod=win700&market=us , and then click View downloads.

***************************************************************************

Right-click a file, and then click this

To do this

Delete File

Delete the file from the computer.

Copy download link

Copy the link you used to download the file. You can paste the link, and then save it or send it to someone else.

Go to download webpage

Open the webpage where you downloaded the file.

Open containing folder

Open the file's location on the computer.

Report that this file is unsafe

Open a SmartScreen webpage where you can report malware (malicious software).

Rerun security checks on this file

Run all security checks, including SmartScreen filter, on the file.
This information is in the "help files" in your computer.

How do I save a jpg photo to my computer that has been sent via e-mail and give it a file name? I have a group of jpeg photos that were sent via e-mail, how do I delete the ones I don't want? My...

This depends of the email client you are using. If they are sent as attachments then save those attachments or download them to your hard drive. If they are embedded in the email then you will want to right click on the pictures and choose 'save as'.
Once the pictures are in the desired folder you can right click on the file again and choose 'rename' This will give you the option to name the picture anyway you like.

Need the driver for the video card (asus-eax300le-a334c rev 1.01)

What O/S are you using? (Operating System. Windows XP is one example of an O/S)

This is Asus Support, and the Downloads page,

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

On this page go to the right to the heading - General Download
Under this heading you will see three long boxes.

The first box states - Select Product
Go to the far Right of the box, left-click on the blue down arrow.

In the drop down list left-click on - Graphic Card

Go down to the next box, Select Series.
Left-click on the blue down arrow to the far right of the box.

In the drop down list left-click on ATi Series.

Go down to the next box, Select Models, and left-click on it's blue down arrow.
Scroll the list down to - EAX300 Series, and left-click on it.

Now left-click on Search, in the green box.

The page will 'gray out', and there will be a small window that pops up.
Please select your operating system.

Go down to the box with - Select OS, in it.
Left-click on the blue down arrow to the right of the box.

In the drop down list left-click on the O/S you are using.

I'm going to choose WinXP for an example. (Windows XP. Doesn't matter if it's the Home Edition, or the Pro Edition)

Left-click on Search.

Left-click on the + sign to the left of VGA.
There are 5 files shown.
My advice would be to choose the latest one.

This is the file on top.
Version 8.592

Go to the right of the heading - Download from
Left-click on - Global (DLM)

In the small box that pops up, type the letter/numbers that you see, into the box.
NOTE*
If you see letters, be Sure to type capital letters!

Left-click on Submit.
Your driver download will begin.

How do I email photos from my dell computer?

A simple process to e-mail photos from any computer using windows is fairly simple. Find the folder with the pictures in them. Then select the pictures you would like to send by pressing the "ctrl" key while left clicking(left mouse button) on each picture you would like to send. Once you have selected the pictures then right click on one of the highlighted pictures and select "send to" and then "e-mail recipient" and then right click. This will bring up a page to send the e-mail using your default e-mail program with the pictures attached. You can then add any remarks, comments ect. and choose who you would like to send the pictures to.

Whatever email collecting program (or your online email program, ie - Yahoo, Hot-Mail, GMail, etc...) your using has the setting set to not allow for pictures to be downloaded. Go to the security settings and check the box to allow emails to download content (pictures)

I have Microsoft Outlook Web Access, running with VISTA and IE 7. I can't type in the body of emails. There is an 'x' in the body space. Can someone help me change settings so as to write in the body?

Try this Solution on your desktop PC:
1. In Outlook Web Access [OWA] , click on the "options" in the left Task Pane.

2. Under “E-mail Security” and Click Install or Upgrade the S/MIME Control. This will download a new add-on.

3. Click “RUN” when asked about the Microsoft Outlook Web Access S/MIME install and security warning.

4. Close and RESTART IE7

If the above trick still doesn't work then it more sounds like the Exchange server needs a patch
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=41275DEC-4C01-4C41-AA64-C9DBE5EA3F7E&displaylang=en
[path to the patch]
If you by chance happen to maintain the exchange server then install the above patch and restart exchange service

or check this site for reference:

Good luck :)

After I have downloaded an image from my Logutech camera, I would like to send this as ane-mail attachement. how do I do this please.

Most people store their pictures in the My picture folder which is located in My Documents. You must also consider the size of the file before you send it. A large picture can take along time to download and the person you are sending it to may not happy about that. For example pictures taken from a 7 mega pixel digital camera can be huge and must be resized. Sometimes your email program will ask you if you would like to make your picture smaller to send.
How to place a picture with your email
In the email
  1. Open a New Message box
  2. Choose insert from the top menu, then choose Picture.
email4.gif

  1. The box below appears. Press on Browse to find the picture you want to insert.
  2. Add some Alternate Text. This shows up when the user places their mouse over the picture. Then Press OK.
email%20picture.gif
The screen shot below shows that I have inserted a picture into my email. If someone sent you an email with a picture in it and you want to save it to your computer, right click your mouse on the picture. A menu will appear. Then choose save picture as....

As an attachment
  1. Open a New Message box
  2. Choose insert from the top menu, then choose File Attachment.
  3. Now you can find the picture you want, click on it and the filename box will be filled in for you. Then Press Attach. See Screenshot below.
  4. Now all you have to do it write your message and send.

Have you tried the Sony website to download the "latest" video driver. I tend to avoid drivers that are on CD because you never know how old they are.

To get to the "hidden" partition in Windows:
1) Right-click on My Computer and choose Manage
2) Under Storage, click on Disk Management
3) In the lower-right you should see the hidden partion with NO driver letter assigned.
4) Right-click on it, and choose Assign Drive Letter or Change Drive Letter
5) Assign it a drive letter that's not already in use.
