    So what IS causing it?

I'm at my workplace right now with the guts of one open on my desk and I'm damned if I can figure it out. We have a lot of these doing a similar thing, and the official service guy wants more than they're worth to repair them... the lens seems good, the rest of the light path is ok so far as i can tell (no burns or obviously displaced parts), the only really inscrutiable part is the tightly screwed together LCD block that doesn't seem to have any adjusters on it.

(Got one that's had its PSU fail, so while swapping in the power supply from another that runs but has a SERIOUS shadowing problem I thought I may as well pull it apart and take a look at what's in there)

HI there

Firstly this ghosting image will NEVER be caused by your LCD's , so do not take them out.

Have you tried using a different cable ?

If you have and the problem still occurs , you will have to look at replacing the Mainboard.

reset the settings to factory default. if that doesn't change anything, clean the dust out of the projector and check the second diffuser lens (fly-eye) next to the lens. also check the polarizers next to the lcd panels. they tend to fry due to excessive dust and heat.

NEC VT 480, replaced new lamp ,still low brightness.

if you remove the lamp, inside the lamp housing you will see a refraction (fly-eye) lens. these evenly distribute the lamp light. the one on the other side from the one you see (there are always 2 lenses) is probably burnt and needs replacing (a common problem with lcd projectors). you will have to send it in to nec. in many of their projectors, both lenses are in one assembly.

Problem with image from LCD

Hello,

No, If the problem comes with connecting the signal, then it could be RGB.
if this is coming with all time then check LCD panels and Fly-eye lens.

Last thing is lamp unit.

Display fault

either the light filter before the blue lcd is fried or the 2nd fly-eye lens is. take the lamp out and shine a flashlight through the glass in the projector. if you see blackened burn marks on the other side of the glass, the fly-eye lens is burnt and needs replacing (but is currently out of stock). if not, it's the lcd light filter (which is in stock).

NEC vt460 Projector have a ghost problem on the screen

Hello

Pls Service the LCD Panels of the Projector, Also check the Fly-Eye lens, just next to Lamp unit. This will solve your problem. if it's not then the only solution is Replacement of LCD Panels, But Must check or replace the external RGB Cable first befor doing all this exercise.
