Hello,Storm-ic I have the same problem you had with the same kind of monitor. (HP 1955,screen going black, showing a picture 1/10 of a second.) I just would like to know how you " resoldered...

First, download the disassembly instructions fro HP here first:
http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/globalcitizenship/environment/productdata/Countries/_MultiCountry/disassembly_monito_2006112713913.pdf
Second, get yourself good 40w solering Iron and solder.
This monitor is made by BENQ which also makse the monitor for Dell.

Inspect the DC filter caps on the Pwr/Inverter board, and solder joint at the AC inlet and the rest of the board.

SuperWarehouse.com just says it requires anywhere from 110-240 volts AC (which isn't very specific) and uses 48 watts. I don't see anywhere online that lists the DC power output... sorry. If you could get a manual for it that might help.

I own a XG-91D monitor that the screen goes black after about 5 seconds. I found 2-470uF 25V capacitors on the power supply board that were leaky - replaced them but the problem still persists. There...

Hello,

Replace thee 1000uf caps too. A capacitor meter will not test the ESR ( equivalent series resistance ) of the caps the cap meter will show them to be good but an ESR meter will show then to be bad. Also be sure to use low ESR caps. If you use general purpose aps like from Radio Shack it can damage the board board because of the ESR rating. The temp rating needs to be 105c or the new caps will blow out within a month because of the heat in the monitor case ( No fans ).

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

LCD monitor no display - flashing power button

hello, my best guess is that the refresh rate is set for a crt monitor. hook your old one back up, if you can. and change it to 60 hertz or 70hertz. go 2 display properties then settings then advanced; then monitor. set the refresh rate as i said and turn off the computer, hook the new one back, and you should be good to go. good luck! and please rate this solution. if you need further assistance, reply

There are three (3) capacitors that go bad on the power supply board. MAKE magazine's Instructable site has a good guide on replacing them. I have a june 07 and july 07 date monitors. they were different inside!! identical outside, however. The bulged,'bad' components were 1000uf 10v cap's, I put in radio shack 272-1032 1000uf 35wvdc. My monitors? BOTH were bought for $35 on craigslist, $10.35 in parts. ???BusinFLA -at- hotma*l dot com.....worked for me!

1. I turn on the monitor, I hear a 'cracklin' sound
Reply: In a CRT Monitor there is a component called EHT which generates High voltage which is connected to the anode of the CRT, If there is any leakage due to moisture can cause this crackiling sound, You need to clean this high tension wire or replace the EHT ( CAUTION : BE AWARE OF HIGH VOLTAGES )

2. The screen only shows a bright, thin line.
Reply: The vertical Drive section of the monitor is faulty.
