Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

1 Answer

Reformatting. I have a Sandisk Cluster Micro 4GB and it only shows 194.2 MB's available. The only files on the device is the LaunchU3.exe file. I would like to reformat but I don't know how that works on my iMac. Can you help? Thank you, Allan broha6197@earthlink.net

Hi there,
you can Format your drive on a Windows machine as "FAT32" and it will be usable both under Mac OS X and Windows. the only thing to make note of is there are some limitations on the FAT32 format, like the 4GB filesize limit and certain naming restrictions.

You can reformat your drive by opening Disk Utility and then reformatting it using that application. in Mac OS X

- In Disk Utility, select the disk.
- Click Erase.
- Choose format from the Volume Format pop-up menu
(select the windows based format).
- Type a name for the disk or volume.
- Click Erase.
- You can use the drive on both the mac and a PC by choosing MS-DOS from the Disk Utility application when you're about to reformat.

I accidentally remove my "LaunchU3"

Are you sure you can't access it anymore?

LaunchU3 is only a quick launch program that comes with Cruzer flash drives. Even if the program is deleted, you should still be able to access your other files. Just go to Start -> Computer and your flash drive should be listed next to your hard drive.

If that doesn't work, then perhaps you deleted other files along with LaunchU3. In that case, you will have to use data recovery software to un-delete the files.

USB with no files says it's full (Mac computer)

I had a similar problem.  There are hidden files taking up your space.  You can clear this by using disk utilities and clearing the drive. Takes less than five minutes.  Good luck

Opening files on SanDisk micro 4GB

Work through My computer once putting the disk in the USB port. It should read "removable device". Click back and forth from c: drive to my computer to make the computer recognize it faster. Let me know what happens.

SanDisk Micro Cruzer reduced from 2.0 GB to 1.0 MB when reformated

Make sure you check to see if the File System is FAT32 instead of FAT or NTFS, this way you can have your 2GB back.
Try reformatting using FAT32.
