Computer freezing When I plug in any device (digital camera, ipod, cd writer, etc) into a usb port my entire notebook freezes. Can't ctrl alt del or anything. This has been a problem now for a couple of weeks. Not sure if my usb's are shot or they need to be upgraded or what. I bought my notebook only 2 years ago. What do you think? Thank you

sounds lile your Windows operating system or hard drive has become corrupted or damaged. Try to repair Windows or reinstall it using an external optical drive and your Windows CD or restore/recovery CD. If might also be necessary to fully reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows. If that still fails, it might indicate a failing hard drive

My computer freezes when i plug in external hard drives

Does it freeze when plugging in any USB device? Exam the USB port and plug/cable for any damage. I have seen the pins get bent and the tab cracked on a Dell USB port before.

First freeze, then boot slow, then boot "PBR 2 ...done, then disk read error Ctrl Alt Del to contine..., now no screen at boot up....fried???

Hello,

The problem is with the corrupted boot files .In my opinion you have one solution
Steps for solution

1. Download an operating system called ' Linux mint ' which can be installed in the pen drive having minimum 4 gb capacity . Using this operating system you can access the computer .

2. Copy the file and folders to an external storage device (external hard disk, pen drive etc..)

3. Reinstall the operating system ( XP,Vista ,Window 7,Ubuntu etc )

Hope you be successful

My asus eee pc series keeps freezing and nothing

most likely you have contracted a virus and need to reinstall windows. the only other possibility is a major hardware issue

HP2133 mini notebook. freezes intermittently, any

Just do a ALT CTRL DEL to bring up task manager then select the Processes TAB and look down the CPU colume and see which program is holding up the PC. the only one that should have a high value is SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS rest should be virtually zero until you are running an applicaton at the same time.

Keeps freezing

Sounds like motherboard problems, but not 100% pointing to that. If you have the knowledge to do so - run a linux boot cd (can be found on a lot of PC magazine DVDs) and see if it crashes with that as well.

Other things to check are the heat your laptop is outputting, check for any burning smells from where the airflow comes out of the laptop, check that your power cable for the laptop is not faulty.

This is a pretty indefined problem as there are many factors that could cause this. Hope I helped.

A disk read error occurred. the comp. said press ctrl+alt+del

The computer cannot find the operating system, the disk error message means it cannot find the hard disk, you most likely have a faulty hard disk or less likely a faulty disk controller.

You can test the hard disk by removing it and connecting it to a USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer cannot detect this drive as an external drive then you will know your hard drive is faulty ad you need to buy a new one and install Windows and programs etc..

Internet connection and taskbar

this may be down to a corrupt windows update recently installed, go to start> accesories>system tools>system restore and choose a restore date to before the freezing problem started, or before any recent updates were installed.
