Computer freezing

When I plug in any device (digital camera, ipod, cd writer, etc) into a usb port my entire notebook freezes. Can't ctrl alt del or anything.

This has been a problem now for a couple of weeks. Not sure if my usb's are shot or they need to be upgraded or what. I bought my notebook only 2 years ago.

What do you think?

may need to reload operating system. if you have the restore disc for you lappy the do a system restore. let me no if restoration works ok
