this is what your going to do.reformat your computer in to a operating system thaw will fit with your specs.for my opinion much better you install a win7.so your computer will be updated for new applications.
In the majority of cases where a Vista driver is not available on the website - the Windows XP Driver/software should work - you may need to tell it to run in compatibility mode though.
Cant find such a scanner, are you sure of the model "performance", If it is not Vista compatable, ie if Epson have not released a Vista driver, then it is not going to work with Vista.
See Epson web and download driver if available, if not change scanner or operating system or purchase software
Check your Epson product CD to see if it already contains Windows Vista drivers. If the CD indicates support for Windows Vista, follow the instructions that came with your Epson product to install your driver and other software.
If your Epson CD does not indicate support for Windows Vista, DO NOT INSERT YOUR EPSON PRODUCT SOFTWARE CD IN YOUR WINDOWS VISTA COMPUTER because the setup program is not compatible with Windows Vista. Instructions for installing additional software from your CD may be available with your driver download.

Products that are not Vista compatable are not capatable with Vista, who would figure hey!!

It is probably proprietary software. If it is a Canon camera, it most likely came with something like ZoomBrowser.
windows vista has compatibility problems with many device softwares and drivers, u have to get the software that's windows vista compatible, or u can log onto the visioneer site http://www.visioneer.com/ and download your device's software that's compatible with windows vista
With the Computer. Go to Start/programs/accessories/system Tools/Compatibility and attempt to reset the computer to the Windows mode the Scanner was made for.
Be aware however that Scanners made for use with Win 95/98/ME operate under DOS commands and 2000/XP/Vista work on the NTFS system so there is a hardware not software problem. You will I feel wind up buying a Vista Compatible Scanner
