Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

My GE XL44 doesn't heat up to full temperature.

I started noticing a couple months ago that when I would cook things in my oven they weren't cooking good. So I bought an oven thermometer and my oven isn't heating up anywhere close to where I set it. For example, I had to set it at 500 to get it to 350. It only seems to be getting worse as well because now a couple weeks later I set it to 500 and it won't go past 200. Also my broiler doesn't work at all, but the range still works perfectly fine. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated , thank you.

There are several things to check.
1) check the broil element
The broil element participates in the preheat and if the element isn't working it will take forever to reach temp.If the element is good 2)check the broil relay
If the relay does not activate when you press"broil" the control needs to be repaired. They are a few more things to check but you can start with the above.
We rebuild these controls.

SOURCE: temp of oven did not go over 350 when it was set

Probably the RTD is going bad. That is a resistive temperature device. It changes resistance over temp and feeds a voltage back to the oven controller telling it that the oven set temp has been reached. If you are not reaching your temperature then I would suspect the RTD.

GE Profile Spectra XL44 oven- Makes a popping noise while heating up

assuming you have a gas rang here sounds like a bad ignitor, too long to light causes a "popping "noise when it finally does, as well as extending cooking time and perhaps slight smell of gas while cooking, all signs of bad ignitor.when you start the oven should light bake bar in 40-60 secs. any longer, bad ignitor
easy part to replace yourself part num wb2x9154, remove bottom of oven cavity, 2 screws mount ignitor to burner and 2 wires lead from ignitor( use wire nuts provided if needed . and makes no difference which wire goes where theres no polarity.

F2 Error when using the oven GE XL44 Gas Range

Control senses oven temperature above 615F-630F

If actual over temperature condition occurred: Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

If no over temperature condition occurred: Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit , not actual oven temperature.

GE gas stove

sounds like a bad bake ignitor(uneven heat, long cook times, long preheat times, perhaps even gas smell while cooking)as far as the heat from under the clock assy thats the normal vent( nedds to release heat somewhere, not a problem
