Question about Toshiba Satellite 1135-S1554 (PS113U-3SKYMV) PC Notebook

2 Answers

Disassembly Need to replace the motherboard. Need to at least be able to disassemble to the point of being able to read the motherboard part number. My research on the internet has provided 2 different part numbers (k000004100, k000004080) as being applicable replacement parts. Thought I would disassemble the laptop myself, but I would have a greater degree of confidence if someone could share a disassembly instruction/manual. Can anyone supply one or point me where I can find one, Or perhaps there's a manual for a compatible model. Thanks, Ted

this site has great tear down instructions for most laptops. if it doesn't have the exact one you can look over a few of the tear downs on different models. you will then understand how to tear down you own laptop.

^_^ good luck bro

Hi schollmd

DISASSEMBLY GUIDE FOR TOSHIBA SATELLITE A205 LAPTOP

On certain laptops, it is possible to delete the BIOS Memory by temporarily disconnecting the CMOS/RTC Battery before reconnecting it and reassembling the laptop.

Sometimes this requires almost total disassembly of the laptop.

So no damage is done during disassembly and the correct component positions and cable connections are restored during reassembly, this is a job best done by an experienced repair technician.

While yellow is a common colour, the CMOS/RTC Battery can also be encased in blue, brown, black or green plastic.

On some models the CMOS/RTC Battery is accessible without disassembly, via the Wireless Card compartment underneath the laptop.

On other models, disconnecting and reconnecting the CMOS/RTC Battery is ineffective in clearing the BIOS Memory Cache because nearby capacitors store the data if the Battery is removed. Two contact points on the motherboard have to be bridged in order to dissipate the charge from the capacitors to reset the BIOS.

The Step-by-Step Disassembly Guide for this model series of laptops can be viewed here:

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-a205/laptop-disassembly-4.htm

I hope this helps.

My DC jack broke what should i do.

I am assuming you mean the DC jack on the motherboard in your laptop?
You can repair it yourself, or take it to a repair shop and pay to have someone do it.
To repair it yourself, you'll need:
1) A new DC jack (though sometimes you can fix the broken one)
2) The disassembly guide to your specific model of laptop. Google the phrase "laptop make/model disassembly" and one should come up pretty quickly. Guides are generally step-by-step with pictures included, and putting it back together is just the reverse of disassembly.
3) A soldering iron and solder. 15-30 watts for delicated boards like a motherboard. Once you've pulled your motherboard out, You can de-solder the broken DC jack from the motherboard (if necessary) and solder the new one on. DC jacks are generally 2-4 solder points and fairly simple to press back on.

I have a hp pavilion dv6000 that has a motherboard burned out i was wondering how much will it b to rapair it

You can try to do the repair yourself, by purchasing the motherboard online at lets say...Ebay, you can pick one up for a DV6000 depending on the model for under 160 bucks. I can give you a link below to the service and repair manual as well as a link to an illustrated guide with color photos of the disassembly. I offer the same service as do other repair establishments. You ship in the laptop with your AC adapter, we replace the motherboard and ship it back. My labor charge for instance is 100 bucks plus the part. I am unsure what others charge, you might want to shop around and research the local PC shops. See if you can find one to just do the labor and you supply the part, just realize there will probably be no warranty with that arrangement.
Motherboards vary greatly, open the access door to the memory, there will be a skinny tag located inside the compartment, there will be a number like 443775-001, this is the part number you will need to find a new motherboard. Below are the links.

HP Pavilion dv4000 motherboard freezing

There is a chip under the pc card cage that gets cold solder points and ends up breaking loose. The motherboard will need to go on a special rig to be resoldered. It would be faster to just purchase another motherboard on Ebay and install it. The motherboard part number is located in the Ram memory compartment. There are repair firms out there that are capable of repairing these but I am unsure of what the cost would be. I will include a service manual link below to guide you in the disassembly of the laptop.

Toshiba dc connector

Hi,

If the laptop still works, then there would be no need to replace the motherboard. The DC jack is replaceable/repairable. What would be more challenging is the disassembly and eventual exposing of the bottom part of the circuitry where the DC jack is soldered into. Often the DC jack would have at least 2 solder point (not more than 3). This might interest you.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
