Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.
F1 error means that the flood switch has been activated. You’ll need to reset it by powering off the breaker or by unplugging the unit from the power socket and mains for more than five minutes. Please check that there is no blockage in the drain hose and it is not raised higher otherwise the water will run back to the dishwasher. Also perform the following procedure---

    • Unplug power and remove bottom dish drawer
    • Use a Sponge and dry all the excess water underneath
    • Remove circuit board cover
    • Dry all around and underneath as much as possible
    • Apply hairdryer for 10-15min

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

We have a 23" Fisher&Paykel dishwasher and got

The F1 error coming on top drawer when operating bottom drawer is due to the thermal fuse blowing up on the bottom drawer and shutting controller power.

The thermal fuse could have blown either as a normal component failure or heater over heated due to thermostat failure. In any case this can be repaired by replacing the whole heater assembly as all the parts are integrated.

This is at the underside of the drawer and will need a technician to replace unless you are very familiar with repairing electronic dishwashers. The part look like this.

The way you have described the onset of the F1 error is not due to flood switch. You can confirm that the lights on the bottom drawer are out even though the top drawer is showing F1 and beeping.

If problem was flood switch then both drawers would show F1.

Our machine has F1 error what does this mean please

The cause will depend on whether the F1 is showing in both drawers or just one - which one?

It is caused by the flood switch located on the base to trigger and is usually due to water leaking. In some cases it is linked to thermal fuse blowing in bottom drawer, but in that case will show up only in top drawer and bottom drawer will have no power.

Hope this helps.

Dishwasher showing wrench symbol after using dishwashing liquid

I am assuming this F1 error is coming in only one drawer and that you are able to run the second drawer as normal.

In the case of your dishwasher the F1 error occured because the foam would have overflowed over the drawer top into the base of the unit. This would have triggered a flood switch which is there to protect water damage to the dishwasher. You can either wait a few more days until the base of the dishwasher drawer unit dries up or you can dry it yourself.

To dry the base, extend the drawer as far out as possible (turn mains power off first). The use a few towels and push them on to the base. Pull the towels out and dry the base especially the centre of it with a hair dryer.

The F1 should disappear once you put power back on .

Hope this helps. You have a very helful child who sets the dishwasher up. I have to keep pushing my children to even empty it.

How to shut off dishwasher? F1 is flashing on control panel.

Hi now F1 mean that your machine has triggered the flood alarm. there are two reasons this happens-- 1st-- there is a leak on one or both of your drawers. they leak because you might have a hole in one of the hoses or your lid is not shutting properly etc. the 2nd reason is that some water or soap suds escaped from the overflow. now i would like you to turn the machine off at the wall and leave it off for a couple of days to dry it out. then turn it on and use the lower drawer for one cycle. if it does not go F1 then try the top drawer for one cycle and see how it goes. if it continues to flash F1 then reply back for further help. good luck.

Dishwasher keeps flashing F1

F1 on your dishwasher is the fault code for leaking inside the machine. the water has caused the flood switch to activate. have you put any detergent rather than your normal dishwasher detergent into the machine? if you have, the water probably leaked out of your overflow, if not, then you have a leak on the top drawer or bottom drawer. the easiest way to check is to leave the machine off for a couple of days until it drys then turn on the bottom drawer to go thru a cycle.if the F1 comes up again then the problem is on your bottom drawer. if F1 does not come up then try the top drawer. please reply if you require further help.

F1 fault shows flood switch activated, how to

Hello there
This is how i did mine
saved about 300 dollars
First thing I did was pull the front panel off the drawer, batch%2010-23-04%200031.jpg
Fisher Paykel DD602 dishdrawer with the front panel removed.
With that front panel off, I pulled the wire harness connectors off the main control board (lower right-hand side) to inspect for gookus. None found--my quest continued.
The next step to remove the botton drawer from the unit so I could inspect the flood switch. In order to do this, I had to remove the wire harness cover on the underside of the drawer. This is what the underside of the dishdrawer looks like with the botton cover panel removed:
batch%2010-23-04%200041.jpg
Fisher Paykel DD602 dishdrawer, looking at the underside of one of the drawers with the wire cover plate removed.
With the bottom cover off, I could unclip the wire harness, fill hose, and drain hose. Then I unclipped the linkage at the back of the drawer and lifted the drawer off the slider arms. All this to expose the flood switch, shown on the left-hand side of the bottom panel in the picture below:.
batch%2010-23-04%200051.jpg
Fisher Paykel DD602 dishdrawer with the lower drawer removed. The flood switch in mounted on the base, left hand side.
After noting the positions of the wires on the flood switch and removing them, I unclipped the switch housing from the base panel. The switch housing contains one switch for each drawer. The switches are wired normally closed (NC) and each switch has three spade connections, so it's important to note where the wires went. With the switch housing out, I could ohm out both switches and both checked good. I inspected the contacts and noticed that one of them was oxidized, evidenced by discoloration.
and clean off the contacts. That'll restore the current flow for that circuit. ." So I cleaned the contacts and reassembled the dishdrawer. I ran the top drawer and...no F1 error code! I ran it several more times just to be sure.

Troubleshooting problem with two drawer fisher & payke dishwasher

F1 is a flood code and is an indicator that water has escaped from one or both drawers. It is usually caused by placing too tall of a dish in the drawer or from failed parts such as the older style "link supports" or a faulty lid motor. It also can be a chronic problem if the machine is not installed correctly.
