"PF" stands for power failure.. Try to reset it(press and hold power button for 10 seconds). If it doesn't work.. then u can try the circuit breaker again.. Also we can trace the cause of this if you specify the brand and model of the stove..

There may be a reset button inside the back panel of the stove. If you let me know the brand and model, then I can let you know if your stove has one or you can open the back panel and check for yourself. Otherwise I can give you more options, just update me on the information I need and I will be more than happy to work through this with you.

Good luck and have a good day.

Whats your brand for the range? maybe we can haveanother manual here for you...

you can try the circuit breaker again... but either case, if its just a lock function, it will be there on the manual.

    PF means Power Failure.
There has to be a reset button somewhere on it.There is a button somehwere, like Set or Clear or Reset that you have to push to set the clock and allow you to use the oven. You can also try resetting the clock.See if it has any recommendations regarding Power Failure in the manual that came with it.

If you would have given me the make and the model no.I would have given the manual to ya.

Another thing is that most of them had a similar problem like yours, they could not get the oven back to work even after reseting it so they had to call a tech. and get it repaired for around $200.
The problem was actually a loose wire inside.

I'll let you know if there are anymore solutions.

GE Stove tope range not working

If the phenomenon is intermittent, and you get it going and coming as you restart the oven, then it is likely a bad wiring or a bad connection.
Ensure first that the circuit breaker is ok and well in place, then proceed testing wirings.
Check connectors to buners, hobs, and controls panel.
If all wirings and connections are OK, the what reamins is a faulty control panel or a fault on some of the knob controls.

Where are fuses in Kenmore stove C970

Stoves generally do not have internal fuses they rely on the house circuit breaker to protect the circuit. Some stoves have what is called a thermal fuse. These can trip when the oven or broiler has overheated. Some are located on the back panel and some are located on the top panel under the top of the stove. Since this is a smooth top model there may be one on the back panel. More than likely there is a problem with the oven control circuit possibly in the electronic control. The relays can go bad on the control and the oven will not work.

Loud pop from Range, stove top still works

The pop was a shorted wire.
The short drew sudden over-amp at breaker.
Amps = heat.
Breaker senses heat and trips before wire to oven is damaged, and before the arcing short can cause a fire.
Was the short at the element?
I don't know, but sounds like the circuit board was damaged.
Of course they are putting electronics inside all appliances today instead of old mechanical dial, because it's cheaper or so much prettier... but new appliances more vulnerable to surge, and other electrical failures. Which is true for all 240V appliances not protected by whole house surge protector.
To test element.
Remove element.
Use a continuity tester across the element connections.
If there is continuity, then the element is probably functional.
Use a multimeter across same element, set multimeter to read ohms.
240 Volt, 3500 watt element should be about 16 ohms.
4500 watt about 12-13 ohms
Volts squared divided by watts = ohms
57,600 divided by 4500 watt = 12.8 ohms

I would guess that the short fried the circuit board, but there is a also a shorted wire somewhere that is still bare and dangerous while power is ON and you are touching oven or stove, unless 240V breaker is GFCI or arc fault, which probably not. Especially dangerous if you are moving stuff around trying to find problem while power is ON.

My oven and stove top in inoperative. the clock,

If everything checks out fine, and you have no wires grounding out, then the issue is the control or circuit board( same thing).

Blank Display on Electronic Oven Control

If the burners are working it is not the circuit breaker as both use the same circuit. The board does use the ground or neutral wire. I would check that and see if there is 12VAC supplied to the board. If there is then it would appear you have a fried board.

PF on Whirlpool super capacity 465 electric Stove Model RF366PXGW2

PF = Power Failure. Sounds like you have a bad electrical connection. With your breaker off, check that the connections from the cord to the range are all good and tight. Next, check the receptacle where the cord plugs in. Remove the cover and check the connections there as well. Examine the power cord also. There could even be a poor connection at the breaker box (at the circuit breaker or the neutral buss bar) but not as likely, as your problem appeared when you moved your range.

Oven problem

You have to disassemble the control board (behind the touch pad). If you are the lucky one you might have to resolder the joint on one of the six relay (the largest one). If you are not i.e the spark damaged the micro processor.....you need a new board (318193201)

Oven will not start, stove top works fine, possible lightning strike.

hi thom,

You are likely correct, you may need a new control panel, they are very sensitive to power surges. If you are handy you may be able to find one cheap online and replace it yourself, just be sure to unplug the stove or turn off the breaker before you work on it. if you have any questions on how to do that please contact me.
