Colored Lines Destorted Picture

My 32" Philips recently has started showing colored lines (red, blue green) at the top of the screen when it is turned on. Over the past week these lines are going lower on the screen and becoming more spread out. They now cover approx 3~4 inches of the screen. The picture behind these lines seems to have a reflective destortion to them. PLESE HELP.....

we are having the same exact problem with the colored bars at the top of picture when it first comes on, then for about four inches from the top of the screen any score of a game etc. shows up in reverse. Our television is only three years old, and it really does not sound good for Philips products if several of us are having the same issues!

I am also having the same red green blue lines at the top of the screen when I turn it on and then when the picture appears after I turn on the satellite it turns into white lines which invert the picture (fold it over). So when credits roll it looks like they come over the top edge of the screen. When I called Philips they said the warranty expired after 1 year. I'm done buying Philips, that's for sure.

I have the exact same problem. I hate the idea of paying for an easy fix, but if it was that easy, we'd all be repairmen, wouldn't we?

I know this has been a thread several times, but does anyone have a specific capacitor or item they have found tho be suspect or the culprit, on a phillips 32PT5441/37, I had the horizontal white lines at the top they grew down and dirstorted the picture for just a few weeks, then it will power on now and then the pictures flashes off and the green power light stays on, If you have specifics , I understand most likely the Vertical Sync board which I assume is the only board , there is a small board on the end of the tube (what is that one), any details or does anyone have a pix or the actual board for some good old fashioned home soldering and remove and replace of parts please let me know.

I have the exact same issue. This started about a month ago. Looks like PM needs to do a recall!!! Cost a fortune to have this big clunker fixed.

I had the same problem , sent it into the shop and they said it was a capacitor . It is a $3.00 part and $75.00 for labor . But it did fix the problem . The labor charge was inflated I'm sure so if you someone who can do it and just get the part ,would be the way to go.

Visual transparent lines at top of picture

You have a vertical output circuit problem. This was common for Philips' sets. Have a repair shop check it out. Should not be too expensive to repair.

Blue, red, green lines on top of screen for couple months. Now tv wont work.

The foldover is because of a bad capacitor in the vertical circuit. Given the "new" sympotom of a dead set, I would suspect that the vertical IC has failed. This should be a relatively simple repair for a TV shop. If you wish to attempt a repair of this yourself, update this and confirm your model number and I'll post more details and instructions.

White horzontal lines on the top of screen

Typical symptom of a faulty screen voltage capacitor. You'd need a schematic to locate the cap and then change it out.

Blue tint and lines on screen.

Those lines sound like "retrace lines" and several things can cause them. The most common are shorts inside the picture tube and shorted semiconductors in the video driver circuits. They can also be seen if the blue screen voltage is too high or if someone has tampered with the screen voltage control.

Tv showing blue screen with flyback lines sound ok

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket

32 inch sony trintron tv red blue green

Switch OFF TV. Open rear Cover. Switch ON the TV. Now, very carefully, (There are very High and Dangerous voltages inside, also, use a mirror to see the screen) adjust a red colored box called "H.STAT" which controls the Horizontal Convergence of the CPT. Should solve your problem. Check some Vertical portion of a object (Text in some Video Title, wall of a building, etc, ) as a reference.
