Built in web cam problem

I just got a new ASUS X50R laptop and I cannot get the webcam to work. It state that it is used by another program. I have switched off the antivirus program but it didn't help. I run a web cam diagnostic tool and I got the following output:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Video Capture
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Selected source: USB2.0 1.3M WebCam
Driver not registered with NetMeeting (possible black border)
Capture graph initialized
High-resolution still capture supported
Video format set to 160*120 at 30 fps
Capture graph failed to render
The parameter is incorrect. [0x80070057]
Unable to position the video preview
No such interface supported [0x80004002]
Video preview enabled
Video capture started

Any idea what could be the issue?

Looks to me that all you need is a driver. Check the manufacturer's website. They'll have it for you. Don't worry, it won't cost anything.

Hi,

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do i use my built in camera on my asus G73SW as, i guess it would be a stand alone camera maybe? i just want to be able to use it to see what it sees and take pictures or video.

Hi larryg12117...

Follow the instructions below to use your webcam
Click on Start then >Control panel>hardware and sound >device manager>imaging devices>web cam....enable it
Another way is to use a IM application like Yahoo messenger,NetMeeting, etc.
They will have video, picture capabilities that will work with your webcam.
You may have a webcam program built in to your computer already, go to search and put in "webcam"

I have a ASUS computer with an in built webcam. How do I access it?

To access your camera you will need to use a software program. If you want to just see yourself you can just go to a graphic program click on file - import - and then it should have a name of a web cam. There also should be some software specifically for your web cam installed. The best program for doing video callling (in my opinion) is skype.

From there you can make free video calls to other skype users and the program is free.

Hope this helps and good luck!
