Bunching and Looping (Bobbin Side)

While sewing the bottom of the material being sewn the thread is bunching up. I suspect it is the bobbin thread. The top of the material is sewing fine except when you look at the underside. What can I do?

Thread the machine with different color thread for the needle and the bobbin, then see which color is bunching up.Ill bet it is the top thread.

Thread jams and breaks on my Husqvarna #1 machine. Thread looping around bobbin case

This likely is related to thread tension. You might increase that adjustment a bit higher than the book settings. If that does not fix the problem, here are some additional considerations?

I have a Singer 2263 which is old but not used often. I am making aprons for Christmas, I made 3 and all the sudden the bobbin started bunching together. What can I do?

hi Sue.
Why does my bobbin thread keep bunching up? Check Your Tension Settings. Looping underneath the fabric usually occurs when there is not enough tension in the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. Sometimes thread bunching can be caused by something as simple as the tension dial being inadvertently turned.

I'm having trouble properly threading my Elna 1010. Could you please help? The bobbin thread keeps bunching up and breaking

bunching of thread under the material is an indication of insufficient tension of the needle thread
increase the needle tension until the threads meet at the center of the materialbeing sewn

Material bunching due to cotton looping from the bobbin how do i correct this please

It sounds like you have what is referred to as "thread nesting" or birdnesting. If the upper thread is actually creating a mess under the fabric, then the upper tension most likely needs to be tighter.

How can I stop my material sliding around when I am sewing?

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

Thread bunching and bobbin winder quit

This sounds a lot like you've forgotten to lower the presser foot. (this leaves the tension discs open and causes serious issues below the material.) Double check that and if still having issues post again.

The stitching is not right. It looks fine on the top of the fabric, but bunches up on the bottom

Looping or bunching on on the bottom is a result of problems with the TOP TENSION.
Rethread the upper thread and adjust tension. Try again.
