I have 2 desktop computers without OS installed and I need to install a Vista Home premium OS on them. How do I know which OS version to install, that is the 32 bit or the 64 bit? They are the HP Pavilion M8000 PC and Compaq SR5710Y PC.
It looks like both of them will take a 64 bit operating system. You can't mess it up...if your computer is not compatible, it won't install.
If you don't have an operating system, I highly recommend Windows 7 over Vista. It is way better on resources and does a lot more with less memory. If you install Windows 7 -64 bit, you would be VERY happy with your system. It is possible to do a complete install without a keycode to see if you like it. Just hit next where it asks for the keycode and it will install, and it will give you 30 days to put a keycode in and activate it. That way you can get a disk, usually for about $5 or $10, (without a product key) (oh, and not from a store) and install it, you just won't be able to activate it...that way you can see what you like first.
