My internal screen quit working after i briefly went into the lake with it in my pocket. everything else works though. any hope for it?

Its either the inverter in the screen or the backlight is blown. Hopefully its the inverter as they are quite easy to replace you just need to remove the front off your screen to get to it. There is videos on youtube showing how to do it. You can get them on Ebay about $10 . If its the backlight it requires a bit of patience and soldering a few wires again about $10 .If youre not confident take it to a shop not sure what prices in Japan are like? you can try and restore it. remember it will clear everything from your ipod but you can resync them later after restoration, to restore:
make sure you have itunes running and have access to the internet.

hold down the power/sleep button and the home button at the same time, the ipod will go dark, once it goes dark release the power button while still holding down the home button, and itunes and a usb cable icon will show up.

you might have to do this several times before those icons show up since your screen does not even light up.

now connect the ipod to your computer and itunes should recognized the ipod and follow the instructions to restore your ipod. it will take some time but it worth the wait.

keep taking out the battery and restarting the phone, thats what i did with mine. the screens now work, but theres is a red light.(it drains the battery =(

if fuses chk.out ok i would have to say its the drivers side controls went bad. windows, door locks, everything runs thru drivers controls. even though you said buttons chk. out ok i can't think of anything else other than a fuse, unless the wires came loose from the maine controls or maybe there coroded. hope i've ben some help. OLD SCHOOL.

Followed directions on your suiggestion. There were 4 srews though instead of two. Still no sound but it may be that it isn't dry enough yet or I need to reclean it. Everything else is working great though. Volume button doesn't work and bar on volume on the do you want to quite screen won't move up. They are all connectected together though I'm sure. When I get the button working everything else will probably work ok. Thanks

I've rescued cameras and cel phones from such a fate, but I worked on them while still wet. After they dry, not much hope, sorry

This might not be to everyones taste. But my Palm 750v after being put through hell in my pocket started to freeze, have blank screens on reset, and generally playing up and not working. I found that bending it on top and bottom (not screen), pressing on the speaker part while bending, and twisting it gently restored it to work fashion, well enough to back everything up. I had to keep it bent to get it to bootup all the way through its screens. I hope this helps, but it might not be for everyone.

• adjust brightness setting when playing tv.
• adjust screen control located on flyback transformer.
• hope this will help.

Seems like something is crushed internally a connector perhaps- A repair manual -Huh! They don't even repair them. Live with it or buy another But try Sony customer support- you will see what I mean
