Your machine may support more than one monitor and have more than one monitor port. Change the cable connecting the computer and monitor to a different monitor port as the computer may not yet be configured for the port you have plugged the monitor in to.

How do I change my computer monitor to 1680 x 1050?

First right-click on the desktop and then left click on Properties from the menu that appears.

The display properties dialogue box will appear as shown in fig. below, click on the settings tab at the top right of the box.

The areas worth noting are: google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad); Screen Resolution
This slide bar is what you use to change the resolution, the options you have will depend on your graphics card and monitor, but the standard options are 800x600, 1024x768 and 1152x864.

Normally the default (in XP) is set to 800x600 which means the display will be 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels high.

Color Quality
This pull down box will contain the current colour options available, again this will depend on your grahics card and monitor, for best results select the highest option available.
Changing the ResolutionTo change your resolution simply slide the bar along to the resolution of your choice and then click the Apply button.

After clicking Apply your screen will resize to the new resolution and you will be presented with a confirm dialogue box, if you are happy with the way your screen looks then simply click Yes, if you would like to try a different resolution click No.

When you have finished simply close the Display properties box.

I bought a lcd monitor samsung syncmasterB1930 and it requires 1324*1068 screen resolution. i have installed the drivers for the monitors but still unable to get the desired resolution. is there any way...

The native resolution if this monitor is 1440x900 - i have no idea how you end up with that weird resolution. In any way it will not accept a higher resolution.

Unable to install driver and error it says is monitor resolution atleast it should be 800*600

This sounds familiar. What you need to do is download the motherboard INF setup or the motherboard drivers as they are sometimes called. Run that and windows will then be able to identify the hardware. At that point you can run the video driver and it should now install. When it is running you can change the screen resolution to higher as well as the colours to higher.

As a word of caution sometimes the drivers that you download from the manufactuers website won't work for the first install but the ones on the cd will.

I have k8vmx motherboard and amd athlone processor.but my i am unable change aspect ratio of samsung synchmaster943nwx. i want to remove distortion in the display. HELP

In windows, you can't change the aspect ratio itself. You just need to change the resolution in the windows display properties to one that has the right ratio, like 1440x900 for example. In many cases, if you cannot get this resolution on the slider, its because your monitor has no drivers installed and windows limits it to "safe" resolutions. In which case, you need to either install the drivers for the monitor either from the CD that came with it, or by downloading it from the company website. If you cannot find it at all, you can also use a Microsoft Generic driver that is included in windows, in which case it usually tells you what resolution the driver you are putting in supports, it's written in the driver name.

Can't change the resolution

The frequency failure is probably a message from the monitor to say it cannot cope. When setting resolution click "advanved" and try reducing the frequency.
