1 year old unit went dead today. Tried to reset with power (5 sec) and + key. Tried powering up in bike mount, auto mount, and with AC power adapter - nothing works. Tried USB to PC - not only did it not power up, but the PC didn't recognize that I had plugged anything in. I took the battery out for a minute and reinstalled. Nothing will breath life into this thing. It has worked flawlesslelly in both mounts and on battery until today.

I have exactly the same problem with my eTrex Venture Cx.

Reset does not work. The GPS appears dead!

I have had this for only 7 months and now it doesn't work AT ALL. I
thought I could just replace the cord but it sounds as if this is just
a chronic problem with the unit. I have now read at least 12 reviews
all mentioning the exact same problem. It will not power up at all. I
took it to Europe and tried to use it in a car there and it wouldn't
work. It's a GPS device, right? Isn't it supposed to work in other
countries? Feel like I made a BAD mistake buying a Garmin.

Nuvi 350 worked flawlessly for over a year. I've tried to charge it with wall, car and usb adaptors, nothing works. The unit is completely dead.

Same thing. Tried all reset combos and car/wall/USB cables. Just before it died, I saw the unit going through a power cycle that didn't finish. Dead. Wait until you see that it's $175 to send the unit in. $700 new (18+ months ago), and $175 every two $75 for the map upgrade? What a deal. I feel like a high-roller! Paper maps are starting to sound pretty good again.

Exact same problem as RodBowman. My Zumo 550 crashed during download of mapsource 2009. Called Garmin...Stock answers with no solution. Told to call Raytech and was told it would cost me $280 dollars (CDN) to repair/replace.

Agree with Over Rover...What a rip off! Paper maps look really attractive now, and a whole lot cheaper to replace.

Did you reset it? lift off the cover plate by slipping your fingernail into the little slot just beneath the Garmin logo. There is a reset button hidden under the cover...

Tomtom930 wont stay charged..cahnged the battery

it sounds like your power adapter isn't supplying enough power to the unit. You should be able to try switching out the adapter with another and see if that helps. If the doesn't help, then there may be a problem with the recharging circuit on your GPS. AT which point you should contact TomTom.

Magellan Roadmate 300T, bought new battery but it wont charge.

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

the following magellan800,860,2000,2200t,2500,3000,3050,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000t are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc powerport...i sell these power ports and will repair them for anyone thats notable to do it themselves.

you can get it repaired here
or buy the port here

Garmin gps 296

If it does not show 'charging' when connected to power, then something may be wrong with the power cord. If it is the vehicle cord (the one with the cigarette lighter plug) check the fuse in the tip of the cord.
