Whether it is on battery or mains, the camera turns itself off and on. Ive had the camera 9 months, it worked fine unil 2 days ago (that's when it started doing that, only occasionally at first, but getting worse). Thanks for your help.

Re: power turns itself off
Carefuly check for your model if there is an auto power off feature! Many of these devices have this for battery power savings. Some of these models can be set to as little as 1 minute up to several hours.
If there is an actual defect, you will have to send the camera to the manufacture rep for service if it is not a set up in the menu for auto power off. The power supply may be at fault, or some component on one of the boards is changing spec and is causing a safety shutdown.
Most of the repairs in your camera are done by module and board change. There are some factory procedures for performing specific setups that the average service center cannot perform.
Get an estimate before accepting repairs. In many cases with home video equipment that is out of warranty, they are not worth servicing.

Same Problem, same day, have you found any solution?, i stored the camera for abut 6 months following the Manual specifications, keeping the camera away from humidity, dust, even light and unmounted batteries, but it didn't turned on when i really needed it, I tried changing batteries, power source, i've already checked the lock/standby and the main dial, anyone help please!
hi, its clear that the battery is gone .
replace the battery with a new one its gonna work fine.
when you plug the charging chord into the camera, the camera shuts down because the battery is gone.the battery has lost the ability to charge,so to protect your handycam from any hazard the camera shuts off.
Can you not detach the lead to the charger unit, and plug that directly to the camcorder, to see if its the actual camcorder at fault ?
Near the camcorders power socket, you should see a small picture telling you what power the cam uses - usually around 7 volts, centre positive connection jack plug, at around 900mAh. As long as you get the voltage close, and have enough amps behind it, it will still work safely.
Camcorders are rarely fussy about the exact voltage, but you should never go above 9 volts unless its needs more. Most take the internal power down to 5 volts inside anyway.
The batteries do have a tiny non-replaceable internal fuse, triggered by voltage spikes or overheating, and if that goes, it usually means buying a new battery :(
Batteries can go at any time from the very first second they are used. I've bought many, and had a few that didn't last 2 months from brand new. One high-end type lasted over 9 hours on its very first charge :) and then never worked again after that :(
O& ..)& '''ho 7... 007 I see his movies are old and so is your battery. Break down and buy a new and charge it to full capacity replace the battery
Buy the heavy duty isf there is. and when you store it when not in use ut the battery in the freezer. When you want it thaw it out and put a charge to it for a good practice and install
For the Flip Ultra - Take out batteries you should see a flat somewhat square piece of metal with a small black piece sticking up from it. Take a pencil and push the black piece down wait a few minutes then try turning your flip back on.
Please plug the camera charger in AC Outlet and hook it to camera. Check camera power turn ON, works fine? if OK, switch it to Standby / Off mode. Attach battery and check any charging light lit? If yes, leave the camera on charging position for 4-5 hours until its charge light flashs or turn Off. battery is chaged now. Have fun :)
I had the same problem ...I bought a new 2 GB SD card put it in the camera and it worked fine.
It may have had something to do with formatting ..I tried to format the other card wiyh my computer when the video camera would stay on.
I tried to reset the camera that didn't work either.
The new SD Card did work.
