Don't know what message you are referring to. Which e173fp do you have, there is another letter that identifies manufacturer.
Yes: its an E173FPb. Manufactured Sept 2004 Rev A00
BTW: How do you take it apart so I can get at the parts ?
thanks..

- I removed the back and took an ohm meter to measure the 4 transistors in the high voltage section and one was shorted out. I replaced the 'pair' of transistors (got some from ebay and put in a match set with the same gain of 345). The monitor worked for about a week and now it will power up for about 2 seconds and then shut down.
Remove the stand by removing the screws at the center back.
pry the front and back plastic apart with a large flat blade screwdriver. The front and back snap together so you need to "pop" them apart.

When I restarted it, and every time since, it goes directly into a black screen (Don't evne have time to access safe-mode, none of the F keys work, neither do DELETE or ESC) and says: 2 : Digital Output Cannot Dispaly This Video Mode Optimal Resolution 1280x1024 60Hz I tried hitting the menu button on my monitor but nothing happens! Please help if you can.

When I start up my compuer, it goes directly to a black screen that says: 2 : Digital Output Cannot Dispaly This Video Mode Optimal Resolution 1280x1024 60Hz While I was playing a video game, the whole screen went into this crazy tie-dye pixelation, froze up, and when I restarted it went to that screen. I assumed I needed to go into the menu on the monitor and reset the settings, but when I press the menu button nothing happens.
