Canon i560 Printer

Despite renewing cartridges and carrying out deep cleaning and nozzle check etc..apart from black text which works OK, anything involving colour be it text or photo comes out red. I have unintalled programme and re-installed driver CD, but no change. Any observations please ??

Printer is not printing the black colour when i load the paper from the rear slot...

Hi
try printing a "Nozzle check" to confirm that both your black cartridges are working ok. One cartridge - the smaller (photo) one is used for printing photos on glossy paper. The second - bigger cartridge is used on plain (copy) paper. Sounds to me like your smaller (photo) black cartridge is not working. It's either empty or may need "Cleaning" or "Deep cleaning". In case you don't know...Nozzle check, Cleaning etc utilities can be found on "Maintenance" page in "Printer properties".
good luck

My canon iP3500: Black print comes out patchily, despite many attempts at deep cleaning, Each time I deep clean, a couple of pages come out with the black print OK, then it goes patchy again.

It sounds to me like your cartridge nozzles are clogged. That's more common with recycled or refilled cartridges, but it can also happen with new cartridges if they are older. If you just purchased the cartridge you could try to return it. Otherwise, I would try to continue deep cleaning and nozzle checks until it starts to print. It takes a lot of ink, but sometimes that's the only way to get it to print. Usually it will work eventually. Do a nozzle check in between each cleaning and deep cleaning.

Stripes on Images only - Text OK

Perhaps the CMY color heads need alignment. If you have not already done so, run a head alignment from the driver maintenance section. It will print out a page containing several lines and text, and request you select the closest-aligned images. After this is done, do another image print to check for improvements.
Normally, the printer uses the black cartridge for text and the CMY inks for images (even for black on photo and specialty paper). So when you are printing normal text pages on plain paper, only the black ink is used. A good check for this would be to print a normal text page, but select photo paper in the driver to trick the printer into using the CMY inks to make a substitute black text page. If this looks ok, then you are having issues other than cartridge alignment.

Try cleaning the printheads
Performing the printhead cleaning procedure
  1. Power on your printer, press and hold the "RESUME" button until the printer light flashes once.Note: You can also clean the printhead by clicking the Cleaning button in the Maintenance tab of the printer properties dialog box in Windows; or clicking Cleaning pull-down menu in the Printer Utilities dialog box on a Macintosh computer. Choosing this option will allow you to select all nozzles, black or just the colour nozzles.
  2. Pressing Resume on the printer will clean all nozzles. When the printhead cleaning begins, the POWER light starts flashing. This will continue for about 30 seconds. Wait for the light to stop flashing before you resume normal operation.3. Perform the Nozzle Check Pattern test again
  3. If the results are satisfactory, resume normal printing
  4. If the results are not satisfactory, you may need to execute a printhead deep cleaning.

Prints black on test page, but not when a job is sent to the printer

make all your printer settings to default. If any problem in that simply uninstall & re-install the driver.

If still no good, your black cartridge might have dried-up
