Hardware won't install

My computer won't recognize the T10 hardware. When I try to use the control panel to install it, it says there was 'an error in the installation of this device' and that 'a service installation section of this INF is invalid'. I don't know what that means. Please help me, I'm going crazy!

I have been trying for months to get my computer to recognise this device. I can transfer files from computers at work which presumably have XP Professional rather than XP Home.

It comes up in the Device Manager as Other Devices with no driver installed. The installation CD does not provide any suitable software.

Samsung say that it should use an onboard driver but despite numerous download attempts nothing works

Me too ... same problem .. I have called Samsung numerous times and they claim that it it is my PC and not the YP-T10. Actually I think they are right because mine works great on my laptop with Vista. This has something to do with xp and Media Player and the .inf file (or whatever) that is in the YP-T10. I cant fix it (yet).

  • telemaco May 11, 2010

thanks but it is not about the hold switch. It does try to install a driver, takes some time and afterwards, gives you an error message "aservices instalation section in this INF is invalid"

the same T10 device talks well to another computer. it seems our laptop has some sort of software/driver issue. it seems a lot of people are having the same problem. It installs on some computers and on some not. regards, and thank you for any help you may have.

Hm, i had same problem before. i plug in the USB and it says new hardware but unrecognized and you have to install MTP device (like hell do i know what MTP was), so then i looked up through Google, and came up with solution!!..my PC is XP so i have to download Windows Media Player 11..after i downloaded it, my T10 finally worked!!!!! T10 it pops by it self in my computer.
hope it helps

Slotting in a new USB2.0 port doesn't work either. the architecture typical of older motherboards will not support the T10. solution = get another mp3 player, or another PC.

Make sure the hold switch is not enagaged - same as the power button - make sure it is not slid toward hold.

After reconfiguring my lap top's os, vista, I have no volume control installed.

Check your hardware device manager.

To access Device Manager, go to Start | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | System | Device Manager (Device Manager is located under "Tasks" in the left hand column of the "System" menu). A list of hardware will display like the one shown below.

Hardware you expect to find is not listed If you cannot find the hardware you expect to find, it is likely the hardware is installed incorrectly. You should power down your computer and locate the physical hardware on your computer. Verify it is installed correctly, and restart your computer. Once you have restarted your computer, Windows should automatically recognize the hardware and go through an installation process. You may be asked to provide drivers during this installation.
If you verify that the hardware is installed correctly but still does not appear in Device Manager, please contact the DoIT Help Desk.
A yellow exclamation mark appears next to your hardware A yellow exclamation mark next to your hardware means the device is recognized by Windows but is not working properly. This usually indicates a driver problem. Update your drivers by following the directions below.
  1. Right-click on the hardware and choose Properties.
  2. Click on the Driver tab.
  3. Click on Update Driver....
  4. Click on Search automatically for updated driver software.
  5. Windows will automatically look for updated drivers for your hardware. If unable to find any, you will need to go the hardware manufacturer's website and download new drivers.
A red X appears next to your hardware A red X indicates that the hardware is disabled. Right-click on the hardware and click Enable. Your hardware should no longer have a red X.
If you are still having problems with hardware after you enabled it, please.

After installing hard drive

You shouldn't have to run regedit for this.

I think you're saying it doesn't recognize the DVD player.

I assume you're running XP

First, go to Control Panel/Add New hardware to see if it's recognized. Let it discover new hardware and see if the drive gets recognized.

If not, go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and find the DVD player. Try to Update the drivers. If that doesn't help, select Uninstall, then reboot. Windows should then install the standard drivers, and you're good to go.
