Freecom 400 GB external hard drive not being read by computer an re-installing Freecom Personal suite. When I turn on the external hard drove the power light comes on ( and stays on) and the drive itself initially starts up but then stops.

Hi there,
sounds like you have a hardware should look into trying this drive on another system to see if the same thing is happening without the drive software ...and if it works try to recover all your data from this drive as soon as possible...hardware problems are most time intermittent ... so they work now then say after a while they stop...

When turned on the harddrive does not make its normal startup noise and worse; the computer does not see the harddrive anymore! The blue light on the front pannel is lit though. Help...

Check all cable connections in firmly & correct way round, from motherboard & hard drive. Check in bios, make sure hard drive setting is set to Auto. Place you hand on the hard drive to feel vibration. Hard drive could bd faulty. Western Digital are renound for it.

Hi i have just tryed to connect my FREECOM 160GB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE to my imac and nothing happens at all, the light on the front of the hard drive is on but it does not show on the imac desktop, i went...

you have to download the driver for the hard drive
go to the hard drive manufacturer web site , find the down load for you model hard drive and the imac operating system
download and run

yah you must buy a Y-USB cable for your external hardisk. this is connection both ends are one is for hardisk and the other two cable is for USB slot of computer. why it two wires connection to usb because one wire is for Data and the other is for Power. If doesn't might be a problem in your Operating system. i recommend to you to reinstall your Windows OS.. theres a 4 reasons why it happen appear the error... deffective USB cable..corrupted driver of USB device for seagate, virus infected of your systems..and maybe your hardive is deffective. USB not recognized

if the usb ur using is 1.0 - it can read it - get a 2.0 external unit and you're good to go.

Freecom Hardrive "Malfunction"

Not necessarily your information (data) was lost. The freecom hard drive might have some problems installing itself or some connection issues. I would take it to a data recovery technician. Of course there is always a 50 50 chance that you lost it or not. Wish you the best, Good luck

My computer has found new hardware for my freecom external storag

It should automatically allocate a drive letter to it. Go to windows explorer and hit F5 to refresh the display and you should see a new drive letter with the name of FREECOM next to it.

Have you tried to connect those drive individually and checked if they get detected when stand-alone? If they get detected stand-alone, install the Freedom software happen. Cheers
