Cartridges shipped with new printer are only partially filled. As they been static for a while you should have shaken them quite strongly before opening. The cartridges are sponge filled and ink will settle.

Have you tried a new Cyan cartidge?

My Brother MFC-685CW Printer Wireless doesn't recognise a new colour cartridge despite having cleaned the printer head. It also is not recognised by the PC despite reloading it. Help!! Troubleshooter...

If the message "NO CARTRIDGE" remains on the LCD after you have installed the ink cartridge(s), it is possible another ink cartridge is empty and needs to be replaced or one or more of the cartridges are not installed properly. Complete the following steps:
  1. Unplug the machine from the AC power outlet, wait approximately 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

1a. If the display continues to show NO CARTRIDGE, verify the cartridges are installed properly by uninstalling and reinstalling all four ink cartridges. Follow Steps 2a through 2f.

1b. If "INK EMPTY XXXXX" (Xs = color, i.e. INK EMPTY CYAN) is displayed on the LCD, the specified ink cartridge is empty and needs to be replaced. Follow Steps 2a through 2f.

  2. To resolve an INK EMPTY message or to confirm the ink cartridges are installed properly, complete the following steps:

2a. Open the ink cartridge cover. Pull the lock release lever(s) down and take out the ink cartridge(s). While you have the ink cartridge(s) out of the machine, verify the cartridge(s) are genuine Brother supplies with the Brother logo embossed into the side of cartridge.

2b. Reinstall the ink cartridge(s). Lift and push the lock release lever(s) until it clicks into place and close the ink cartridge cover.

    ink_replace04.gif

2c. The LCD may then display:

Did you change xxxxxx? Yes No.

for the color(s) that was replaced. If this message appears, BE SURE to follow the instructions on the LCD to correctly select Yes or No. Select Yes if you installed a new cartridge(s) to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. Select No if you did not install a NEW ink cartridge(s).

2d. After all the correct selections are made, the machine will then enter a cleaning cycle.

2e.If the display again shows INK EMPTY XXXX, go back to Step 2 and follow the instructions to install a NEW ink cartridge.

2f.If the machine did not enter a cleaning cycle and the display continues to show NO CARTRIDGE after reinstalling new genuine Brother ink cartridges, your machine may require service.
If your computer is not recognizing the printer you should uninstall and reload the drivers. You might consider downloading a new driver for your operating system from this site:

Keeps saying install c

Hello,

When the printer says "install C" it is referring to the Cyan (blue) ink cartridge. If this is not a new cartridge, you might have to replace it. If this is a new cartridge, try following these steps.

1. Unplug the power cable.
2. Remove all 4 ink cartridges.
3. Close the ink cover
4. Plug the power back in.
5. Wait for the machine to warm up and tell you that the ink is empty.
6. Reinsert all 4 ink cartridges.

If you keep getting the same message you should try another cartridge. You can put the yellow cartridge in the blue spot to see if you get the same message. If you get the same message then the machine is broken. If you get a new message then the cyan cartridge needs to be changed.

Thanks,

Pat

I have replaced my empty ink cartrages, but when i have put in the new ones, the screen still comes up with they are empty please replace, how can i solve this problem. this is for a brother dcp-130c

two possibilities, first check to make sure the inks are really there. take the cartridges out and look at the little plastic window on the cartridge and see if you see ink. if you dont, you will need to get a new cartridge again, if you do see the ink, most likely the sensor board is damaged. Usually this damaged because of generic ink.

I use to refill my brother dcp-130c printer cartridge.but now it shows black cartridge empty also colour cartridges near empty..after I purchace new black cartridge also same messahe appears..pls help me...

the electronic on your printer, the one that detects the black cartridge might be dirty, try cleaning it with some tissue. if that doesn't work, try removing the installation of your printer and then install it back again. if you have any other black cartridge, put it in the printer and try printing. If a page comes out, even if it's blank, then it's the black cartridge that has an issue. try that and let me know.

After installing new cyan cartridge, display reads No Cartridge

look at the ink cartridge and and first see if the ink covers the top of the cartridge. there is a little part of the ink cartridge the best way to explain it, is there is a tab,. that tab goes into a sensor. if the tab has ink on it, then you mostly like have a problem with the sensor itself. but if there is no ink, the printer is correct. i have had several people bring printers with those type of problems, and when they bring the cartridge i look at it, and they are practically empty.

thanks

Brpther DCP 330c does not recognise new black ink cartridge

Usually there is more than one cartridge empty when you receive this kind of problem. Try opening the top cover and check if the display changes - it should change to specify one (or more) of the color cartridges as empty. That one(s) should be changed too.

I changed my cyan ink

That definitely sounds like the cartridge isn't registering properly. I would take the cartridge back to where you bought it and ask them to exchange it with a new one. This can happen from time to time.

If the printer was new out of the box, contact the manufacturer for a replacement cartridge. You can reach Brother here

Not printing

  • If you replaced an ink cartridge before the LCD shows Near Empty or Ink Empty, the LCD will ask you to verify that it was a brand new one. (For example, Did You Change Blck?) For each new cartridge you installed, press up navigation key or 1 or "+" to select Yes to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, be sure to press the down navigation key or 2 or "-" to select No.

  • Here is the manual, you can download it and go to the routine maintenance section.
