Question about Smeg S1100MFX5 Electric Single Oven

5 Answers

I have a Smeg oven SA708, but all of the symbols on the front of the oven (functions / temperatures) have been wiped off by a previous tennant. Just after a picture or diagram of the front of the oven so I can work out what the symbols are. Thanks! Michelle

I have exactly the same problem. Searched Google for images, but found nothing at a resolution that works.

theres a total of 8 little screws you have to pull out the bottom two when open the oven door, then u have to pull the whole oven out of the housing and and you will see the other screws you need to remove two behind two on top then you see the rest. hope this helps

We had the same problem with our Smeg SA708 oven, I found a website that sell transparent stickers that stuck on the panel. Now my wife can cook again.
We found it here: http://www.stoveconnection.com.au/shop/index.php/sa708xset.html
I ordered one day and it arrived the next, very very impressed.

I can hear a zapping noise.the front green display is not lit.

Most of the time a zapping or crackling sound is a bad electrical connection. I would check the connections were the power from the source is connected to the oven.

Smeg FU65-5 Oven temperature & timer & function knob lights not turning on and oven does not heat up but the fan comes on.

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

The house I've just bought has a Smeg 60 cm wall oven installed. Possibly 4-5 yrs old. I can't get it to work. An orange light comes on on the door panel when the temp control is turned on. Light goes...

Most of these ovens have two fans. A fan forced fan in the oven and a cavity extractor fan inside the cavity of the unit between the outer skin and the oven wall. The cavity fan blows hot cavity air out the front of the unit so it remains cool. If the orange indicator light is coming on this would normally be the oven element thermostat. Leave it on and see if it gets hot. If the light goes off when you select the function switch it means you are turning it off the oven function. Your interior oven light may be blown.
Hope this helps.

Looking for a manual for Whirlpool BS0801/WH oven

I have a paper copy of the manual - if you need to know anything more than the information below post a more specific question.

The function symbols on Knob F, clockwise from the top, are as follows:
  • 0 = Off
  • Lamp symbol = Lamp Only, no fan, no heating.
  • Fan + Drip Symbol = Lamp + Fan, but no Heating - this is for defrosting.
  • Fan inside a Circle symbol = Lamp + Fan + Oven Heating - this is the normal cooking position. The temperature of the oven is set on the Temperature Knob.
  • Final position = Grill. The temperature of the Grill is set on the Grill knob.
The red indicator light only comes on when the Oven is heating (not the Grill), and goes off when the oven has reached it's set temperature.

The bulb is 25W 230V Type E-14 300 Degree C.

The oven draws a maximum of 2300W so requires a 10A supply.

SMEG A21X-5 Freestanding Cooker: Main oven has smoke/fumes everytime its used!

usual cause of fumes is if the grill is in the oven, when for example a roast is done, fat spits onto the grill element and the circular element and smokes. if you leave it on, the smoke will clear. some ovens have a fat guard which clips over the grill in the centre of the back panel to prevent this.
to clean glass, just use scouring pads - glass is virtually impossible to scratch
