This is a standard procedure we use to bypass the code when we have the gear on the test bench for repair. Try this and it should sort out your problem

You need the remote control to do this, if you don't have one, then you may need to go to a KENWOOD agent and get them to clear the code for you, or purchase one for your use.

KENWOOD SECURITY CODE CLEAR procedure Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key

Your radio will require one of the following procedures.

Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode!

A FixYa rating would be fantastic for helping you out with this techo tip.:)

aaawww man, that sux... You could purchase another remote from the dealer, but I think if you spoke nicely to a service guy, or even sales, at a Kenwood dealer, that they may just sort out the problem for free.. I know I would have for you ;)

Have you tried to take the remote apart. If it is a clip together type, use a guitar pick to open it. Just slip into the casings and run it around the edge, the device will peel apart. Then check it for dry solder joints.Particularly about the transmitting LED. It may need resoldering. Also check the battery contacts for corrosion, other than that, its a throwaway generally. Good luck

Need code to restart my Kenwood radio KVT 512...just bought the car & needed a new battery. After replacing the old bAttery noticed my radio is now asking for a pass code which the dealer doesn't...

Its possible that you need to visit the car dealer; generally, the "lock code" is in the last page from owners manual, if not, sometimes need to pay the autoshop or delaer for this sevrice.

Good luck.

I have a cd stuck in my kenwood kvt 719 head unit and the touch screen controls for the dvd are not appearing.

Have you tried hitting the "Reset" button on the head unit?

The procedure is on page 7 of the owner's manual under the heading "How to reset your unit"

Here's the URL for the Owner's Manual:
http://inform3.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/KVT-719DVD.pdf

Per the owner's manual, you're supposed to call Kenwood technical support if the display doesn't correctly reset or come back on and/or if the disc won't eject.
