I just bought a Belkin wireless router for my internet to connect with my microsoft xbox 360 wireless adapter. the light turns on the adapter but it is a amber color and not red or green like always...

I've never heard of a Wireless Adapter turning amber or orange? This can be a simple light problem inside your Xbox 360. If it were fixed, the highest possibility is that color should be red. If so, this means the connection is not strong enough to your modem, and adapter. You will have move your Xbox 360 console closer to your wireless modem for the connection to be the best.

Need ip address to connect wireless adapter to modem for xbox live

Is your modem a wireless modem? (does it have an antennae?) if not you need a wireless router to connect. If you have set up your wireless router you can just follow my tip to connect.

Same issue, cannot connect to my wireless connection at home...

1.Try upgrading the firmware on your router

2.unplug your router and/or modem and plug back in see if that makes any difference

3.connect gaming adapter directly to the computer, reset gaming adapter back to factory default settings, assign a static IP address on computer, for e.g. 192.168.1.10 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway to 192.168.1.1, logon to gaming adapter's setup page and edit the the wireless settings and IP address according to wireless router or Access Point and save the settings...remove the static IP from the computer and power cycle the n/w...open or trigger 10070-10080, 6000-6999 ports on the router for PS3 and check whether it works or not.

IP address

I had the same problem with my Xbox and Netgear DG834 v4 (wired) router. I bought a Belkin F5D7632 wireless router and that did not work either. I then bought an Xbox wireless adapter and it connected ok. I do not know why the wired connection does not work. The cable length is 10m.

Xbox 360 live on wireless router

In theory you should be able to "share" your internet connection. I use a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and I have a Linksys Game adapter on my son's 360. He has not complained about lag or slow server times unless other intensive bandwidth is being used.

Ip address failed

I think you need to ring your internet provider and they will enable xbox live from their side. Its fairly simple and they will know what your talking about.

I cannot connect to my Linksys wireless router.

make sure that you are using the proper encryption type for the connection. Your router most likely is capable of handling WEP, which is what your adapter is more than likely set to use. Log onto your Linksys router by inputting the IP address into the address bar and then check the wireless security tab on the router interface
If you don't know the ip address, open a command prompt window and type ipconfig at the flashing cursor. the default gateway would be the address of the router.

I cant get wirless xbox live

The 1st question I have is, are you using the official Microsoft wireless adapter (sold seperatly) manufactured by Microsoft? That is the first solution to this issue. If so you must go into your router settings using the home router IP address usually listed on the router unit and setup the router manually to see the microsoft wireless adapter (sold seperatly), try typing this ip address into your browser address line (192.168.1.1) this is usually a generic router IP address to access your router. Your 360 should have a MAC address listed when in the settings and that should be seen by the router as well. Also check your firewall settings to make sure that it allows wireless transmissions. ( My computer usually has to be running for it to see wired & wireless devices properly). I also prefer just running a wired network for connectivity issues with wireless, such as other electronic interferrence from cordless phones & microwaves as I sometimes get with my nintendo Wii.

IP address Problem when connecting to xbox 360 live

i had the same problem buddy. The problem might be that you hacve another system on the wireless network that uses that same IP address. This can cause a conflict that will prevent the xbox from logging on. Try deactivating other systems on the network to see if thats the problem
