check the line inside leading to the flame igniter and glo bar, how did u check for gas leak? just smell or sight? try using a mixture of water and dish detergent by spraying it on the lines while gas is on, and if u see bubbles u got gas leak?
When you put your wet cloths in the dryer close the door. You should then turn on the dry cycle you wish, not the fluff option as there will be only air and gas dryer will not heat the cloths. Wait 30 ~ seconds after the dryer is turned on and listen for the gas to ignite and begin warming and drying the cloths. If you hear no bump sound like the ignition of the gas, then you have an ignition issue. It will require replacing the ignitor. All the best and good luck. Hope this helped.
unplug the dryer and check the ignitor, the sensor and the thermal fuse located on the blower wheel housing, also if the dryer works correctly for the first 15 to 30 minutes then will not ignite again you have bad gas coils, also if the ignitor glows but flame doesn't lite most likely it's the coils, while your in there vac out the dryer, the duct where the lint filter slides into and if the vent line is long blow it out with a leaf blower
Clean the burner exhaust and intake vents of dust and lint. Make sure the gas is turned on to the machine. Watch the burner while trying to dry clothes--the igniter should turn red, then the main valve should open to start the burner. If the plate turns red, but no fire, the control valve assembly may need to be replaced. Is the unit under warranty? If so, you may need to take advantage. Hope this helps!
The burner assembly consists of the gas valve, the igniter and sensor, and the thermostats. The gas supplied to the appliance is turned on and off by the gas valve, as follows:
First--when you close the dryer door, set the timer, and press or turn the Start button--the motor starts. When it reaches full speed (in about a second) a switch on the motor turns on, which allows the electricity to flow through a simple thermostat to one side of the gas valve.
The gas valve then sends power to the igniter, which glows bright orange.
As heat and light from the igniter warm up a sensor that's right next to the igniter, the sensor circuit opens, then supplies power to the other side of the gas valve. This completes the circuit and opens the valve.
Once the valve opens, the gas rushes out and the igniter ignites it. As the gas burns, it keeps the sensor warm, which keeps the gas flowing.
When the dryer reaches the pre-set drying temperature, a simple thermostat turns off the flow of electricity to the gas valve and therefore turns off the gas.
When the temperature in the dryer falls about 20 to 30 degrees, the thermostat again allows the electricity to flow through to the gas valve, and the cycle starts over.
If you selected the Automatic setting, the cycle continues until the clothes are dry, then the timer advances and turns the dryer off.
If you selected a timed setting, the cycle continues until the time has expired, then the timer turns off the dryer
Its Either One Of Two Problems If Its Electric Its The Thermostat but if its gas it can be either the thermostat or the igniter. If its gas you can watch the igniter or listen to hear if its lighting. If it lights its the thermostat cause if the thermostat is malfunctioning it will turn the gas off when it doesn't detect the flame. It turns the gas off to prevent your home from filling with gas. Hope this helps. Thanks For Choosing Fixya Sincerely, Michael Scott
You said, upon starting my Kenmore gas dryer the igniter glows and the gas
ignites, but the gas goes out after 15 or 20 seconds - clothes don't
dry.
This means either the igniter is bad and not getting hot enough to make the gas continue to release completely and stay open, so it shut off. or you have a bad gas module. Or a bad gas valve without enough pressure. Needs to be diagnosed hands on at your location .
