Computer will not turn on

I have a compaq nx9500 laptop, it will not turn on with the battery in it. When I plug the power supply into it and turn it on, the power and other auxillary lights light up, and shut right back off. Could this be a processor problem or a motherbord problem?

Sounds like m/board to me. had a similar problem myself with a toshiba. cheaper to buy a new one than it was to repair it.

Pull out the battery and replace it again. Then power it on again. If the problem persists, you will need to have the motherboard, processor and RAM checked by appropriate technical personnel. Any of these could be responsible.

there are several possibilities. 1. replace the ram, make sure that its a good working ram module. 2. review all your work from system board to power supply. 3. try running it temporarily without the cmos battery. 4. check your monitor. 5. check your VGA. 6. retry and retry.

Compaq NC6320 laptop pc with "stringent" security power on password set. How do I get around this? RTC does not control this password.

remove the laptop battery and the plug to your bios (small) battery on the motherboard wait about ten minutes then plug the bios battery back in power the computer back up using the power supply not the battery then: shutdown and, reboot again after you have reinserted your laptop (large) battery; you should have all passwords removed.

I have a 2008 Compaq with Microsoft Vista and when I powered it off and tried to turn it on a couple of day's later it would not power back on. What can I do to fix this problem.

Nine times out of ten this problem is caused due to your power supply going out. So what you need to do is go out and buy a new power supply for your computer. However if it is a laptop then either your battery is going out or your power cord is going out and not charging the battery.

Compaq nx6320 won't power up

Replace your battery Some laptops don't boot up when no battery is present even it is connected directly on the power supply. Or if not to visit your nearest HP service center. If its still with warranty, use it.

Good luck kabayan. ^_~

Check with any local computer repair shops, they may have another compaq nx9500 laying around that they could swap the motherboards with. Some may even offer to do a free diagnostic.

I also found this ebay auction which offers motherboard repair (don't worry, it's not mine):
http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-nx9500-nx9500A-nx9600-MOTHERBOARD-REPAIR_W0QQitemZ140286672043QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item140286672043&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

If all else fails, you can sell the parts off piecemeal (memory, hard drive, cd/dvd drive, etc.) on ebay and try to get more than $200.

Might be stuck in hibernation. Pull the battery and ac power for about 1 hour. Replace and try to boot. If fails, pull the battery and try to boot just off ac power.

Try laptop without battery first to see if powers on. Could be memory issue of battery as might have been off for a while. Place battery back in if starts up. Then see if charging up and if computer switches on or off.
If fails again, unplug power and battery and open underneath the where the memory is located and try to unplug memory and plug back in. Try power supply then. If works, great! If not, you will have to take into a service center to check inside if motherboard or battery need replacing.
