Question about HP Compaq nc8230 Notebook
HELP!!! My kids locked me out. And of course no one knows who did it.
I turned my laptop on and it said Power on Password. Took it in and they said I might as well buy a new laptop. It will cost $200- $400 for a BIOS Chip. Is there another solution
The above website will provide you with a service manual. The service manual should be useful in locating the CMOS battery which I would recommend removing for several minutes (and you might as well take it out for an hour or so). Also make sure that nothing else is connected; that includes the battery and power adapter.
If the service manual indicates that the laptop has a jumper that can be shorted (two pins that you should touch with a screwdriver simultaneously to short it), then you should do that to clear the CMOS info. Hope this helps!

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
